Countrywoman (Morpeth)

I like the quiet peaceful way of life...I live in and love the countryside. I'm open to most genres of books although I do have some firm favourites....new and old. I also listen to a lot of audio books now (sorry....) when I can't actually sit down in my favourite chair with an open book in my hands. Always looking for recommendations....

Annelise (Morpeth)

I’m retired, 72 years old, and although I have lots of interests and hobbies I love reading, and fancy meeting up with other likeminded people in a relaxed atmosphere, could be a public space or at each ohers’ houses. I like psychological thrillers, personal experiences of injustice, poverty etc, some lighthearted romantic fiction if it’s well written, but am open minded to other genres, not so keen on sci fi. I was a member of a book club when I lived in France, we met up at each others’ houses over a meal and discussed the books afterwards. Is there anything like that in my area, I wonder?

Annelise recommends:

Small Island by Andrea Levy

It’s such a sad but heartwarming account of a couple of Jamaican immigrants in London, the discrimination and racist attitudes are infuriating, but it is described with undertones of humour.

Liz Robinson (Morpeth)

I've moved to Morpeth and I'd like to meet people through a shared interest. I also need to read more, and open my imagination again, though fantasy is a step too far. I love crime and thrillers, modern and classics, not a Sci-Fi or werewolf girl!
