Herman(she/her) (Reading)

Hello , I based in Reading. I am trying to build up a regular reading routine. I am quite enjoy fiction, recently I am reading Digital Fortress. It’s an amazing story but I haven’t finished it yet. Also, I am reading the ink black heart written by JK Rowling. These are such brilliant story, so it would be great if I have someone to talk about the books and keep in touch to share our thoughts. Besides reading, I generally go to leisure Centre for swimming, Zumba and yoga. Sometimes I will also go out for hiking. It will be good to join a club and meet some new friends.

TeaAndBooks (Chatham)

Hi! I’m a 21-year-old female who’s recently finished university, and I’m looking to meet some new people who enjoy reading and chatting about books over a tea or coffee somewhere local ☺️I’m mainly interested in psychology, neuroscience, science, politics and history books, but I also enjoy classic fiction, especially Russian literature and authors like Dostoevsky. I like books that explore human nature, society and different perspectives, and I’m always looking to learn more through discussion and hearing other people’s interpretations. Would love to meet fellow readers who enjoy thoughtful but relaxed conversations and discovering new books together!

TeaAndBooks recommends:

Neuroscience: A Historical Introduction
by Mitchell Glickstein | Learn more and buy
What I particularly enjoy about A Historical Introduction to the Brain and Neuroscience by Mitchell Glickstein is how it combines the historical development of neuroscience with modern research and scientific understanding. Rather than only presenting facts about the brain, the book explains how theories and discoveries evolved over time, making the development of neuroscience feel much more detailed and interconnected. I also like that it balances scientific depth with accessibility, making complex ideas easier to follow while still feeling academically rich.
The boy who was raised as a dog
by Bruce D.Perry | Learn more and buy
The Boy Who Was Raised as a Dog by Bruce D. Perry is particularly compelling because it combines neuroscience, psychology and real clinical case experiences to explore how childhood trauma affects brain development and behaviour. What makes the book especially powerful is how it explains complex ideas about attachment, stress and trauma in a very human and accessible way through real stories of children and recovery. I also found it interesting how the book connects early experiences with emotional and neurological development, while still emphasising resilience, healing and the importance of supportive relationships.
What is Existentailism?
by Simone de Beauvoir | Learn more and buy
The Ethics of Ambiguity and the existentialist ideas of Simone de Beauvoir are interesting because they explore freedom, responsibility and what it means to create meaning in an uncertain world. I like how existentialism focuses on human choice, individuality and the tension between personal freedom and social responsibility. Beauvoir’s writing is especially thought-provoking because she connects philosophical ideas to real human experiences, ethics and society rather than treating philosophy as something completely abstract.

Ang35 (Bangor (Gwynedd))

Very few things can beat a good book! I’m not genre-oriented and enjoy a bit of everything, though I especially like mysteries and novels involving clues or puzzles. Dan Brown was my favourite writer for a long time. I’m hoping to meet new local friends to enjoy a coffee and chat about books. I’m always keen to hear new recommendations and discover new reads. Happy to meet in a coffee shop or go for a walk in the area while talking books! I’m based near Bangor and happy to travel locally for meetups or clubs (up to Holyhead or Llandudno). Always open to making new friends too.

Ang35 recommends:

The Da Vinci Code
by D. Brown | Learn more and buy
I’m sure most people have already read this book, but I still can’t stop recommending it. The vivid imagery and detailed descriptions of France are what make this book so unique.
Inferno
by D. Brown | Learn more and buy
If you love a thrilling mix of art, music, architecture, and ancient history, this is the book for you. It paints a vivid picture of Rome in incredible detail, with fascinating insight into Vatican City. All of it is perfectly woven into an intriguing and fast-paced story.
The secret Midwife
by K. Weitz | Learn more and buy
Following the life of a young woman who chooses to help other women through one of the most special moments of their lives, this book is both emotional and eye-opening. It shows how what you learn from university books is not always the reality. The joy, the happiness, the struggles, the anxiety, and the fear are all portrayed in such a raw and honest way that it makes you see everything from a completely different perspective. What a book, and such an easy read!
All against all
by N.Allen | Learn more and buy
If you enjoyed watching Squid Game on Netflix, you’ll love this book. All it took was an invitation and a huge amount of money to begin a deadly series of murders

Bangor Book club (Bangor (Gwynedd))

I couldn’t find a book group around Bangor or Caernarfon, so I thought I’d create one myself and bring book lovers together! The idea is to suggest and discuss new books while enjoying a chat over tea or coffee. No meetings have been held yet, but if there’s enough interest, we can organise our first meetup soon. Everyone is welcome, whether you’re an occasional reader or a total bookworm. 🙂
