Beagledad

Paramedic looking to partially retire soon, looking to join an English language book club with weekly or bi-weekly or monthly meetings to discuss new fiction and old including thrillers, historical fiction, romance and crime novels. I would also happily discuss non-fiction especially books on history, nature, politics and biographies. I love reading and would like to chat about books read as a group having enjoyed a similar format on radio and TV.

Raising Hare by Chloe Dalton

Beautifully written with vivid descriptions of hares, insights into wildlife generally and highlighting the perils of intensive agriculture. This is an uplifting and moving book on the transformative impact on the author of caring for an abandoned leveret.

Ceej07

I'm an avid reader, and like a challenge. I've read a lot of the famous "difficult" reads and veer towards less contemporary fiction. It would be nice to discuss what I'm reading and compare notes with others

Ceej07 recommends:

La Bête Humaine
by Emile Zola | Buy this book
The first Zola I read and now I'm hooked. Bold, gritty and thrilling too.Lots of trains in it too. The master of realism.

James

I like any genre of literature as long as the style of writing or plot is unique enough to entice me into reading the book. I love the classics, gothic literature and modern contemporary literature. I love overthinking and analysing all forms of media, from books, comics and plays to films, music and television. I'm looking for a regular meet up (once a fortnight?) to pick a book (or other form of literature) to read and analyse, to talk about, discuss and review in a group discussion setting. My goal is to read more in a way that is more social and hopefully make friends with like-minded people in the area.

Fascinating. I still can't tell if it is fiction or not. The characters are amazingly unlikeable yet you can't help but sympathise with them.

I'm 28 and currently living in Llandudno. I enjoy reading short stories, particularly picky on poems and comics. I like listening to podcasts, music and watching films. I want to join a book club to reignite my love for reading as I can never seem to find the time or be in the mood to read as much these days.
