Robbie

Hi my name is Robbie, and I am interested in getting back into reading and would appreciate being in a group club because it would hold me accountable to actually complete the book. I enjoy reading self development books and neurology but open to reading just about anything! Right now I’m working in a solicitors office.

Austin

ever since i was a young boy i have been reading books and now into my late teens i have kept on the hunger to read. lately i have been reading Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy, i think that the overall message of the book is to societal expectations and norms can lead to personal destruction and unhappiness. I would like to meet up at least once per month. I am into thriller/suspense, westerns, historical, young adult, and fantasy.

Looking to join a book club. Been an avid reader since I was a kid. Many photos of me sitting alone with books in school. As an adult I am less of an introvert and want to join a club to discuss books and make friends!

Erin

Hi I’m Erin! I was such a bookworm growing up but life/work got in the way. I’ve just recently got back into reading and want to expand my literary horizons. I’ll read everything and anything but I particularly enjoy classics, fantasy and crime. I’m 28 and have a ginger cat called Gus. I tend to be a bit shy but trying to get myself out there!

Erin recommends:

Flowers for Algernon
by Daniel Keys | Buy this book
This one really got me! A really interesting concept about a man with a mental disability undergoing a surgery to improve his intelligence. It was one of the first books that stayed with me for a long time afterwards and made me question my own character.

Doubtfire

Hey everyone, I was an avid reader when I was younger ( my first job was even in a book shop). However, as I have got older life has got in the way and I have found excuses not to continue this. I am looking to get back into reading again, so much so I have bought about a dozen books to start reading. My favourites were always crime fiction, I have bought all Thursday Murder club books and I have bought some classics too. I have also picked up some political books and looking for a couple of other good fiction and non fiction.

Doubtfire recommends:

The Sugeon
by Tess Gerritsen | Buy this book
A great crime and first in the series of Rizzioli & Isles novels that got me really hooked into the books. Loved it.

The writers style is almost cinematic in its descriptions, & scene setting. It is also a great take on a well known story

Chloe

I was a big reader when I was growing up and as I’ve gotten a bit older life seems to have gotten so busy it’s sort of fallen by the wayside. I’d love to have a reason to pick up a new book each month and then meet up with people for coffee or a drink to discuss what we enjoyed about it! Fantasy is probably my fav genre but I also love fiction, some period/historical fiction and an open to some non fiction (mainly memoirs). I also enjoy some sci-fi! Hoping to meet a group of similarly interested people in their mix/late twenties and thirties ☺️

I'm trying to get back into reading and hope that meeting up regularly with others to discuss books will push me to stop dropping new books. I enjoy crime and thriller books, but I am open to reading anything! I wish to make new friends through reading books. I would like to meet at least once a month.

Tom Dashfield

Currently writing my own story. I started out with hopes of writing a good comedy, but I'm still waiting on something funny to happen.

The author was exiled because the book was apparently too gay
Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad

This book is as dense and wild as the deep Central African jungle it was born from. Sanity has been left behind and replaced by pure poetry.
Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami

The author wrote his autobiography and thought it too dull, so he threw in a completely unrelated, but suspenseful tale of infidelity to keep the readers interested.
