Jazz

Reading is my passion-- I'm currently working my way through the classics! I've just finished Pride and Prejudice, now I'm due to start Frankenstein! After that-- though I loathe to admit it-- heading to Middle Earth (I'm 23 and I've never read Lord of the Rings, I know, scandalous). I would love to meet people who share the same passion for reading and, ultimately, make some friends along the way :)

It's a beautiful thought-piece that, to me, makes you consider the importance of knowledge and whether we take it for granted.

I love physiological thrillers, murder mysteries and some horror. I have grown fond of audio books, but still love paper backs. Recently listened to all Harry Potter books, and loved it (only watched the movies previously). Would be great to find people to meet up with regularly, discuss books over coffee or something stronger!

Hi, I'm Emily! I'm in my early 30s and am trying to get back into reading. I'm trying to use my library card as much as possible and am open to reading any genres and not just books with nice covers!

Would love to read more books and a wider variety next year and find having a group really helps me keep on track :) my most read genre is fiction, tend to go for historical, romance, and fantasy but I’m open (and keen) to broaden what I read. Also looking forward to the social aspect of meeting new people! I’m based in Clifton but happy to meet anywhere around Bristol.

I'm a student of English at the University of Bristol! I would love to connect with more lovely people who adore books, especially those who read different genres and authors to those I'm familiar with (I'm regretfully unread in fantasy and sci-fi for instance). I also love writing and would welcome a connection with anyone else who shares this hobby!

I'm interested in getting involved in a book group to give myself additional motivation to get back into reading and to dedicate time to something I enjoy rather than spending it being a mum to young children. I mostly read sci Fi/fantasy books but interested in a variety of genres

In a nutshell I have a very open mind when it comes to reading and always keen to hear reading recommendations! I set up and ran a book club in London for over 10 years - now looking to join one in BS7 - have started reading again after a break and find I want to talk about the books I read. Am open to genres - finding books in charity shops and the little free libraries I find outside homes.

The Marriage Portrait

A page of description to create an atmosphere where a look says so much! She's an exquisite writer - I am transported to the time and place. In the scene with the tiger I can feel and smell the environment - just beautiful. The descriptions, storytelling, tension, emotion - its all there.

Linda

I am looking on behalf of my mum linda. She lost her husband,my dad, coming up to 2 years ago. As she was his full time carer, she's has gotten out of touch with people and due to being hard of hearing, has lost her confidence. Reading is something she has always loved but has gotten out of the habit of picking up a book due to no spare time. Now that she is living alone and due to compilation family reasons,I cannot visit enough, and I want her to enjoy her life. She is retired and has plenty of time.

Alice

Hi I'm Alice! I've never actually read that much but when I do I really enjoy it, and I thought a good way to get myself to while maybe meeting some people is to join a book club. I'm interested in mystery, sci-fi/fantasy and horror but I'm not really sure what authors I'd like. My other hobbies would be drawing and video games, and I have a special interest in transformers.
