John T (Motherwell)

I am looking at joining in with a book club near me. Currently re-reading for the unknown number of times "Dracula". I am interested in all books and most fiction and non-fiction genres. I love the sense of escapism that reading can give you and where it can lead.

John T recommends:

Dracula by Bram Stoker

In my opinion, the greatest book ever written, a classic horror, that looks at identity among other subjects.

Murron (22) (Motherwell)

I like all romance but prefer dark romance, fantasy and branching into science fiction. I would like to meet some people around my age as my friend group is very small. I struggle meeting people as I am a bit anxious in new situations. New book recommendations and similar vibes would be fab 🙂

Carmen (Wishaw)

I’m 21 and love gothic horror books, vintage classics, and dark fantasy. Some of my favourite reads include: Dracula by Bram Stoker, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Eyre, Secret History by Donna Tartt, High Fidelity by Nick Hornby, Perfume by Patrick Suskind, and so on. I don’t have many friends that like to read, so would love to meet more.

Hi I am retired and my kids are grown and moved out, I am an avid reader and I would like to join a book group to meet some like minded people. I love fantasy and fiction. I am a huge fan of Terry Pratchett but I am open to suggestion of different genres.

Caimh McDonnell is an Irish stand up comedian. His books are full of dark humour and drama with great characters and character and plot development. A man with One of Faces is the fist in a six part trilogy : ). If you like drama and humour then I think you will love his stuff.

Gemma (Motherwell)

Truthfully I only used to really read when I was on holiday, but have been enjoying it more, be it books/audio. I sometimes go through phases, where I can’t get enough of a good book, and then other times I don’t read one for ages. This is a habit I want to break as I enjoy the escapism. I enjoy psychological thrillers & murder mystery, recently started to get into fantasy. Up for reading most books apart from horror/paranormal. Happy to make friends and to receive any recommendations.

Gemma recommends:

Hollylouise (Motherwell)

I have just fell back in love with reading last year, I used to read all the time when I was younger but fell away from it for a while. Started reading the housemaid by Freida McFadden after seeing all of the hype on it and it totally blew my mind. I absolutely loved it and have read about 40 books since December! My favourite genres are psychological thrillers and smut books.
