I'm a 31 years old, neurodiverse male. I love reading and discussing books. I was recently kicked out of a book club because of their rigidity and lack of inclusivity. Being autistic, I find social cues and settings difficult to interpret and can often say the wrong thing or make someone uncomfortable - this in no way reflects my true intentions, thoughts or feelings. I love to read fantasy, sci-fi, anything mythological is a winner! I also enjoy and collect graphic novels. I'm writing a book as well at the moment. I am a mathematician currently researching transcendental numbers. I am currently reading Neon Gods, Kiss of the Basilisk, and I Am Pilgrim. I hope I can find a bookclub that is accepting and welcoming.

I love the written word and even spend hours reading YouTube comments (sad I know!) which are often hilarious and give insights into human psychology and snippets of peoples lives. I read various genres from authors such as Stephen King, George RR Martin, Sharon K Penman (Historical fiction), Charles Dickens, George Orwell, JD Salinger, Vince Flynn, etc. I particularly love smelly, dusty old books and have a small library at home. I would love to meet other like minded book worms and enthusiasts for the written word. I also love 3d movies and video games but books are my favourite.

Joyland

One of his shorter novels. A murder mystery based in a theme park in the US. It is a coming of age tale packed with nostalgia of dreams and loves lost and although it has Scooby Doo vibes (which sounds terrible!) and The Catcher in Rye vibes and is not one of his better written novels. It is a great introduction to a writer who has been pigeon holed as a horror writer whereas his novels are more about the human condition than anything else. Don't be surprised if you end up in pieces reading Joyland. I've never read another author with the capacity to tug on my heartstrings like Stephen King. And he does nostalgia like no-one else. He is a genius of sorts!

Uts interesting to discuss each readers opinion if the book, as it allows us to think from a different perspective. Night Watch

by Terry Pratchett | Learn more and buy

Hands down the best book in the Sam Vimes discworld series, but I'd definitely reading the previous ones before this to give a good idea of the characters and the progression of Vimes' career. Like all Pratchett books, Night Watch is a scorching take on western society, in this case, rebellion and civic duty, and Vimes re-experiences the biggest event of his life with fresh eyes. I'm loathe to say more without risking spoiling anything, but I love a good time travel plot, and Pratchett handles it perfectly.

This one really got me! A really interesting concept about a man with a mental disability undergoing a surgery to improve his intelligence. It was one of the first books that stayed with me for a long time afterwards and made me question my own character.
