TBC

Hello everyone, I am a male in my late twenties who lives in East Kilbride and is hoping to start a book club for people who are open minded and love discussing and analysing books. I want this group to be a safe space for people who love reading regardless of who they are and how they identify. In terms of what kind of books we read, that would of course be better to decide as a group once we are up and running but I thought it could be a nice idea to read some of the considered greatest classics of all time as a jumping off point?

East Kilbride, late twenties, M. Looking to join or start a local book club. A lot of what I have been reading recently is memoirs or romance books but I am open to anything that is worth a discussion.

VikkiTips

I've always wanted to join a book club, and I'm trying to expand my circle a little more. Mid 30s, female, big nerd, east kilbride. I love to read, and I love to learn. I don't read a lot of crime or history, but I'll pick up anything if it's well-recommended enough.

VikkiTips recommends:

Night Watch by Terry Pratchett
Night Watch

Hands down the best book in the Sam Vimes discworld series, but I'd definitely reading the previous ones before this to give a good idea of the characters and the progression of Vimes' career. Like all Pratchett books, Night Watch is a scorching take on western society, in this case, rebellion and civic duty, and Vimes re-experiences the biggest event of his life with fresh eyes. I'm loathe to say more without risking spoiling anything, but I love a good time travel plot, and Pratchett handles it perfectly.

Raymond

I enjoy reading fantasy, thrillers, YA, Sci-Fi, mystery & just about anything else really if the book is enjoyable enough. I have been getting more into reading lately, and I am looking for people to talk about it with. Hoping to be able to analyse books and share our experiences/perspectives on them with each other to find more fulfilment in this new hobby I am exploring!

Raymond recommends:

I am a sociable person and enjoy reading books and also trying different genres. Im chatty, friendly and approachable. Uts interesting to discuss each readers opinion if the book, as it allows us to think from a different perspective. I also dont mind helping out with organising forthcoming meetings or any other tasks to make the club a success

Leighanne

I love reading, I find it hard to actually find a specific genre! I love them all but I don't have anyone to talk to or recommend or enlighten me in my book journey ! I'm open to anything that really gets the pages turning with amazing plot twists or tests of my emotions also a I want and haven't found a good horror so those recs would be deeply wanted! Ta x

That’s to be decided

I would love to start a book club where like minded people could meet together and recommend, read and discuss our passion. Once we have some member I would be happy to organise a venue and host the first one. I am thinking a Wednesday evening around 6.30/7.00 would be a good time however am happy to go with the flow once I see what interest there is. I do hope we can get this off the ground and enjoy a new hobbie in 2025! Please come join me

This book has the most amazing characters, I really connected with them and their story. Each individual had an amazing story to tell and live throughout the book which meshed so very well. I would definitely recommend.
