Leighanne (East Kilbride)

I love reading, I find it hard to actually find a specific genre! I love them all but I don't have anyone to talk to or recommend or enlighten me in my book journey ! I'm open to anything that really gets the pages turning with amazing plot twists or tests of my emotions also a I want and haven't found a good horror so those recs would be deeply wanted! Ta x

That’s to be decided (East Kilbride)

I would love to start a book club where like minded people could meet together and recommend, read and discuss our passion. Once we have some member I would be happy to organise a venue and host the first one. I am thinking a Wednesday evening around 6.30/7.00 would be a good time however am happy to go with the flow once I see what interest there is. I do hope we can get this off the ground and enjoy a new hobbie in 2025! Please come join me

All The Colours of The Dark

This book has the most amazing characters, I really connected with them and their story. Each individual had an amazing story to tell and live throughout the book which meshed so very well. I would definitely recommend.

Josh (East Kilbride)

I’m Josh, 22. I enjoy reading mostly fiction books, specifically mystery and sci-fi books. I’m looking to find likeminded individuals to hopefully explore some different genres and expand my social circle.

Jo (Strathaven)

I've always been a reader and I am looking to meet similarly book-minded people to talk about writing, books, and more while making some new friends. I read almost all kinds of books and enjoy stepping out of my comfort areas to explore the recommendations of others. I don't have a book club but would like to be part of one. Happy to travel locally and meet up once a month or so.

Rizzio by Denise Mina

It a novella that transports you right into the middle of a viscious event in Scottish history, making it and its main player feel impossibly alive, while also reflecting on the echoes of the happening's impact on modern society.

I regularly turn off the TV/laptop and put down my mobile phone to read! I will read just about anything, but have a preference for sci fi/fantasy. Would love to meet with people to have a really good natter about books.

James (East Kilbride)

I love the written word and even spend hours reading YouTube comments (sad I know!) which are often hilarious and give insights into human psychology and snippets of peoples lives. I read various genres from authors such as Stephen King, George RR Martin, Sharon K Penman (Historical fiction), Charles Dickens, George Orwell, JD Salinger, Vince Flynn, etc. I particularly love smelly, dusty old books and have a small library at home. I would love to meet other like minded book worms and enthusiasts for the written word. I also love 3d movies and video games but books are my favourite.

James recommends:

Joyland by Stephen King
Joyland
by Stephen King | Buy this book
One of his shorter novels. A murder mystery based in a theme park in the US. It is a coming of age tale packed with nostalgia of dreams and loves lost and although it has Scooby Doo vibes (which sounds terrible!) and The Catcher in Rye vibes and is not one of his better written novels. It is a great introduction to a writer who has been pigeon holed as a horror writer whereas his novels are more about the human condition than anything else. Don't be surprised if you end up in pieces reading Joyland. I've never read another author with the capacity to tug on my heartstrings like Stephen King. And he does nostalgia like no-one else. He is a genius of sorts!

Erin (East Kilbride)

I’m always a bit shy at first but once you get to know me I’m pretty laid back. I love films and tv, my cat Gus, my family and my partner. I’m teaching myself Spanish at the moment and have a tendency to overcommit to things. I hate raw tomatoes and rude people. I like being goofy and exploring new places, hope to make some lasting friendships.

Flowers for Algernon

This one really got me! A really interesting concept about a man with a mental disability undergoing a surgery to improve his intelligence. It was one of the first books that stayed with me for a long time afterwards and made me question my own character.

Hi all I’m an avid reader and I don’t have any specific type of book or author, I just read anything that takes my fancy . I recently had a big birthday and decided it’s time to do more for me and persue some of the things I enjoy . I thought a book club would be fun to try and meet a new social group in person or online , whatever fits best with my crazy life . I look to hopefully meeting some of you . Karen

Love to read and would like to get to know some fellow bookworms in the local area. Ideally looking for a mid-week book club, but would be happy to start a new one. I'm open minded with what I read, but tend to lean towards contemporary, classics, history and dystopian novels. Oh, and some good non-fiction each month too.

Looking to expand my book collection with other friendly people. I love all types of fiction books but I have a soft spot for novels that dabble in the macabre and horror of life.
