Genres: Fantasy, Thriller, Romance. Got back into reading in 2023 and then fell into Tiktok which has opened up a space for me to find new authors and genres. I have always a book on the go and can never pass an opportunity go into a cafe and read for a few hours.

Audible Fan

for the last 2 years I have been "reading" via Audible so that i can listen whilst walking my dog. It has taken some getting used to not having a book in my hand! I love thrillers, psychological books, some romantic comedy if it has good reviews; recently read the last Robert Galbraith - The Running Grave - excellent, often end up reading books that end up as tv series.

Esme

Hi, I'm a 25 years old MA English Grad and Library / Archive assistant looking to meet other readers! I read a lot, mostly galleys, and rather than a structured book club, I'm looking to set up a bookish space, where local readers can discuss what they're reading, without the pressure. Maybe more of a book seminar than a strict book club! I'd love to talk to other people in the local area about what they're reading, their book opinions, or even just life!

The Girl with the Louding Voice by Abi Dare
The Girl with the Louding Voice
by Abi Dare | Buy this book
Abi Daré's The Girl With the Louding Voice is a compelling and inspiring debut novel that captures the indomitable spirit of a young Nigerian girl striving to overcome insurmountable odds. This richly textured narrative is both a stark reflection on the socio-economic challenges faced by women in Nigeria and a testament to the resilience and tenacity of the human spirit.

Hi, I’m a 21 year old girl who has recently finished university and have some extra time on my hands. I’m looking to join a book club with likeminded people were we can discuss our books storylines, characters and how we found the book. I enjoy all genres, but recently I’ve been reading more young adult adventure, romance and fantasy. But I also love some classics specifically Jane Austin. I just want to be in a book club with great discussion and just jaunt to make some friends.

The Quiet American by Graham Greene
The Quiet American
by Graham Greene | Buy this book
Set during French Colonialism in 1950s Vietnam. The story follows an English journalist and a CIA agent during the backdrop of political unrest. Greene is a master of wrought conflicted emotions. Murder, espionage and a critical eye on American foreign policy. A novel to remind us of the grave consequences of self serving interference in foreign politics.

Hey! 2024 I’ve been wanting to get back into reading again, and although I used to be bookworm when I was younger, I’m 29 and probably hadn’t picked up a book in 10 years. I’m currently on book 14 of this year and am reading Good Girl, Bad Blood. Fantasy fiction has always been my favourite genre but I’m dotting in a few murder mysteries which is also enjoying. After this series I’m looking to go into the infamous acotar. I just wanted to meet a few like minded people that also love reading or trying to get back into it as I am.

I did start by reading manwha/manhua/manga of which I’ve read too many to count. And I’ve also read approx 45 different web/light novel series. Currently reading the “Left hand of God“ series.

A Skinful of Shadows
by Frances Hardinge | Buy this book
Set during the English civil war, about a servant girl who has an inherited ability to carry the live, conscious souls of other humans (and large, angry animals) inside her mind. One of the most original super powers I’ve ever read, and a genuinely intriguing story. I was sucked in from the first page.

Probably getting on for 90% non-fiction, 10% fiction! Mainly history, philosophy, anthropology, social & natural sciences, but interested in most things apart from sport/cookery. Would love to find some like minded people to chat about books that they're reading, non-fiction/fiction. Preferably in a pub setting :)
