Paul (Banff)

Hi I am Paul I am retired and live alone. I used to read a lot but have got out of the habit. Still interested in books and I think a book club would be a fun way to share my interest.

Paul recommends:

KennaB (Huntly)

In the next week or so, I’ll be relocating to the area and am looking to join a welcoming Book Group in Huntly. I love reading and listening to audiobooks. I enjoy most genres of books and love discovering interesting books and authors who are new to me. For the last few years, I’ve been attending a monthly Book Club held in a local cafe, which has always great fun, and the books led to interesting conversations. I also attended a monthly Book Swap at a local bookshop, where I swapped and then read books based on the recommendations of the others in the group and discovered new authors and great books. I’m a particular fan of Kate Foster, Stacey Halls, Jodie Picoult, Peter Swanson, Ragnar Jonasson, Tim Sullivan, Elly Griffiths and Denise Mina. Recently, I’ve discovered Patricia Wolf, Sarah Harman, Jess Kidd, Satu Ramo and Mark Billingham. I’m really excited about moving to Aberdeenshire and am really looking forward to being able to share book recommendations and discuss book club reads with fellow booklovers.

Natasha (Aberdeen)

I am dyslexic and struggle to keep in the habit of reading, so would like to join a small group to both discuss and encourage me to keep in the habit of reading. Then I can maybe finish some of the books I have bought and have remained on my shelf unread.

Mila (Aberdeen)

Hello, I would like to expand my social circle and I thought joining a book club might be a nice way of meeting new people while doing what I love, i.e. reading. I also have found myself in a reading slump the past few years and I believe a book club can provide me with the schedule I need to pick up this hobby again. I do enjoy pretty much all genres and I am open to broadening my horizons.
