Emmm (Newport (Isle of Wight))

Mainly into escapism via teen fantasy fiction but read more widely (mainly anything with decent world-building/magic/adventure but also crime & romance). Love reading in the bath, in the sunshine, while commuting or with cat(s) on lap, and listening to Audibles while doing chores / workouts - but would love to make some story time social! Never been part of a book club but looking into it now because why not :)

The Alchemist
by Paulo Coelho | Buy this book
It’s worth persevering to follow the treasure seeker on their journey to conclusion, with folklore and adventure carrying you through the tale.
The Midnight Library by Matt Haig

It’s one of those magical books that made me feel lucky and happy to be alive. You get an intriguing perspective from reading about the protagonists unhappiness with ‘her lot in life’ and the mysterious opportunity she is given to experience lives she might have had if she had made different choices… it challenges her mindset.

Rosieeee (Newport (Isle of Wight))

Hi! I'm a student hoping to get to know people who also like to read and write. I like sword and sorcery fantasy novels to classical literature though I do like to dip into other genres too including historical & philosophical non-fiction works. Preferably online for now and I'm willing to talk about books both academically and casually as it's both my hobby and area of study :) Some of my favourite works I've read (so far!) are 'The Secret Garden', 'Narcissus & Goldmund', 'Oedipus the King' to name a few

He was such a well known political personality, known to be strong, tough in the political world he was part of. It was a unique picture into his world and how he navigated his life by conquering his over use of alcohol and depression. I found it humbling and an outstandingly frank portrayal of a brave and thoughtful man.
