I founded a book club that ran for 25 years, until it was brought to a (hopefully temporary) halt by Covid. Eventually comprising seven regular members (4 women and 3 men), it met once a month, usually in a restaurant in Central London, and discussed a wide range of literature, both fiction and non-fiction, prose and poetry, from Greek and Roman classics in translation to recent literary novels. (On one significant anniversary, we agreed that our favourite book club read had been Alexandre Dumas's The Count of Monte Cristo.) Three or four of us would like to rekindle the group with fresh blood, so I would love to hear from anyone interested in joining us.

I am a 91-year-olda man. I had a story to tell, and no one to tell it to, therefore I wrote it as a book using an imaginary family. I am a veteran of the Air Force, who was only seven when the www11 began. I came from the Eastend near the docks of London, a poor family and poor education. I learned the hard way from books recovered from bombed-out houses and shops sold them on. There is little more I can say.

I have a fairly diverse taste in books (I mostly read fiction but not opposed to non-fiction). I enjoy contemporary and classic fiction, memoirs, historical fiction, and novels exploring the stories and experiences of immigrants.
