I’m might be a little shy in the beginning but I promise I’m cool when I get comfortable. I’m partial to mystery and a little bit of romance. It would be nice to meet new people and make friends.

Ian Christie (Whitley Bay)

elderly, charming, handsome, well read ,modest (just joking); congenital bookworm. like serious fiction and literary criticism. not too heavy lit crit but some analysis, author background and critical reviews.

Compelling story line and well written. The proverbial page turner. The main characters are all flawed but likeable.

IKC (Whitley Bay)

Am 76 and just moved back to Tynemouth. An avid reader, mostly serious fiction (Pullitzer, Booker etc), but biographies and poetry too. Have enjoyed book clubs in the past. Last book club format was 1 book per week with no serious lit crit, seriously flawed for those very reasons imo.

I enjoy reading widely, from philosophy and history to poetry and literature. Though I often struggle to find the time, so I’m joining a book club to help build the habit.

Teddy24 (Newcastle upon Tyne)

I'm moving to Newcastle with my wife at the end of the month - we're moving all the way from Southampton! I don't know anyone in Newcastle, apart from my grandparents and I'd really like to meet some new people! I love reading, both books and graphic novels. I like a whole variety of genres and am open to trying new things!

Teddy24 recommends:

Divergent
by Veronica Roth | Buy this book
This book was a lifeline for me as a youngster and it's still one of my favourite reads. It challenges stereotypes and explores identity in a dystopian setting.

A great first book in a brilliant trilogy, it's amazing to read no matter what age you are. The world building in this series is really well done and the characters are really well developed.
