IKC (Whitley Bay)

Am 76 and just moved back to Tynemouth. An avid reader, mostly serious fiction (Pullitzer, Booker etc), but biographies and poetry too. Have enjoyed book clubs in the past. Last book club format was 1 book per week with no serious lit crit, seriously flawed for those very reasons imo.

Compelling story line and well written. The proverbial page turner. The main characters are all flawed but likeable.

I enjoy reading widely, from philosophy and history to poetry and literature. Though I often struggle to find the time, so I’m joining a book club to help build the habit.

Teddy24 (Newcastle upon Tyne)

I'm moving to Newcastle with my wife at the end of the month - we're moving all the way from Southampton! I don't know anyone in Newcastle, apart from my grandparents and I'd really like to meet some new people! I love reading, both books and graphic novels. I like a whole variety of genres and am open to trying new things!

This book was a lifeline for me as a youngster and it's still one of my favourite reads. It challenges stereotypes and explores identity in a dystopian setting.

A great first book in a brilliant trilogy, it's amazing to read no matter what age you are. The world building in this series is really well done and the characters are really well developed.

KT (Sunderland)

I'm a teacher who took early retirement to look after family and live life more fully. I love all things 'bookish' ... the feel & smell of a book will always be a joy to me. I will read absolutely anything but I am drawn to books which leave their mark long after I've read the last page. Looking to join ( or even start up) a book club in Sunderland.

Ells (Sunderland)

Hey, i’m an avid reader, especially contemporary and literary fiction, I love any kind of book about morally-grey women, women who are off-putting or just a little bit weird e.g. Boy Parts by Eliza Clark. I also like reading non-fiction, particularly more political books, I love anything Andrea Dworkin. I’d love to find others with similar reading interests to myself.

Becca (Gateshead)

Hi! My name is Becca and I enjoy reading a mix of genres, typically switching between fantasy themed books and fiction! I was looking at starting/joining a small circle that gets together for a cuppa and reads short books of all different genres. Another idea - my background and interests centre around environmentalism, and if people are interested I would love to start a space specifically centered around that!
