Emma

Trying to find my fellow Romantasy lovers to meet in person - Booktok is great but the main drawback is never actually getting to know anyone. The dream would be to find a location for a bookclub lined with bookcases that sells coffee and/or wine. Anyone in?

I'm being blatant and mainstream about this to try to find the group who understand and know what we like

Brian

I guess I read about two non-fiction books for each fiction book. There is a huge wealth of non-fiction books out there at the moment that seek to shed light on this crazy world we live in. I love the world of ideas and theories - the best book I have read recently was John Higgs 'Stranger than we can imagine'. I have recently retired, and have diverse interests including guitar making/playing and writing, and I am also looking to either join or start a book group that meets in person, preferably in central Cambridge (I live just north of Cambridge), to discuss works of non-fiction, that can be anything accessible to the lay-person. So it could be politics/society/history/science/economics/biography etc. Is there anyone or group out there of similar inclination?

I’m a book lover with a special love for classics and mystery novels. I’ve recently moved to Cambridge and I would like to make new friends who enjoy these same genres. I’d love to exchange book recommendations and have discussions with other book lovers.

I've been an avid reader for almost two decades now, and would love to join a reading group and meet like-minded people. I read both fiction (variety of genres, from classic sci-fi to modern-day danmei and anything in-between) and non-fiction (again, various subjects, from history and memoirs to popular science). Drop me a message if you think we could start a bookclub together!

Great world building and interesting magic system. Complex characters and plot, with lots of political plays, action packed scenes and a romantic subplot.

I am 29 and a lover of reading. I particularly love fantasy and romance, but delve into most genres. Would love to meet other readers near me :)

Helena recommends:

Lonesome Dove
by Larry McMurty | Buy this book
I had never read a Western before and wasn't sure it would be for me, but this novel was one of the best I have ever read. The characterisation in particular will stick with me forever, I can't recommend it enough.

Isaac

An avid book buyer and occasional book reader, I also enjoy playing the guitar, board games, travelling and long walks (weather providing!) Would love to get to know some new genres and new people, and what better excuse to read than a deadline for a book club.

Isaac recommends:

Small Gods by Terry Pratchett
Small Gods
by Terry Pratchett | Buy this book
In Small Gods, Pratchett is at top form delivering biting satire alongside a thrilling narrative, witty comedy and genuine soul in a tale like a fine wine - it seems to only get better with age. As one of his self-contained works, there's few better options to start reading the works of one of the UK's finest authors.

Gemma

Hi I’m a fellow book lover! I enjoy going for long walks with the dog in the countryside, meeting with friends, meeting for coffee, and of course I love a good book! I am also a big foodie and love a good movie or tv series! I would love to join or start a book club! I am willing to read all sorts. I like romance and fantasy and drama and period novels. I am not such a fan of crime and thriller but never really given it a chance and always willing to try something new!
