English learners online book club

I have just created a free, online book club for English Learners. We will be reading a book every 4-6 weeks and discuss it in a very relaxed way. I am an English teacher with more than 20 years of experience and I will be happy to guide the sessions and help learners develop their speaking skills.

Walter

I'm 63, and recently moved to the UK. I like a variety of books in the non-fiction world, although within fiction I tend to read mainly crime, espionage or historical fiction I'd love to make contact with others to share book conversations.

Walter recommends:

Educated by Tara Westover

The gradual escape by way of education, of a young woman, from the horror of life as a family under the spell of an extremist, despotic father, in the religious world of the Mormons.
A Perfect Spy
by John le Carre | Buy this book
It's not especially plot-driven in that it tells the story of a man's journey from a childhood entangled with a fantastical con-man of a father through to a distinguished career as a British intelligence officer, interwoven with his other life, passing information to Czechislovakia.
