Alan

I enjoy reading - latest reads 'when the cranes fly south', 'Orbital', 'Under the Hornbeams'. I would enjoy discussing the books I have read, and would value book recommendations. I was very active until mid-2024' but unhealthy in the following 12 months hence now a little isolated - chatting with others is always a good thing - even if we disagree!

Alan recommends:

When the Cranes Fly South
It describes a relatively unrecorded time of life. It has a perceptive view of a persons' thoughts and feelings.

Better read than dead.

I'm looking to start a monthly meet up in Cornwall, Helston- penzance- Hayle-camborne sort of area. The idea is to read things you may not have have otherwise read ! I'm not a snob so pretty much anything goes within reason, each member gets a go picking the book. Could be fantasy, non fiction, the torah, books on gemstones, graphic novels etc. I will kick things off with 'the five' by Hallie rubenhold. It's about the lives of the five alleged victims of jack the ripper. You should be able to find it fairly easily, and if you want to save some money I think world of books sells them used. if you are interested send me an email!

Imogen

Hi, I'm desperate to join a book club near me, or if there wasn't one , start one! . Terry Pratchett is my favourite author of all time, as well as the seven sisters series. But really I just love reading so I'm always looking for new experiences. I'm currently reading 'unwell women' a non fiction book, and the book I read before that was the 'The nun' by Denis diderot.

I've always loved reading and although I go through phases, I read a lot. I read mostly fiction, and mostly literary fiction, but love trying books I wouldn't otherwise have read- which is why book clubs are so great!
