Anna

Hi, I'm an avid book reader and particularly enjoy history. I love to read the books that show the other side of the story like The Wild Sargasso Sea about the story of the woman in the attic in Jane Eyre, or about Dicken's mistress, or Emma Hamilton, Nelson's love. I'm a bit of a feminist and probably nosy (I want to know what's going on behind the scenes!) Hoping to connect with other book-minded people in a world that may be losing its appreciation of this wonderful resource :-)

I'm completely biased because this is my mum's book but she's a proven author with a Carnegie medal recommendation to her name so I think that's ok. This book is about how life might be for a group of young people after ecological collapse - it's about human nature, the good and the bad bits, and it's about hope. It's very topical and like with many books, I find myself wondering where all the ideas came from - frighteningly possible!

It's a heartbreaking insight into the Aberfan disaster through the eyes of a young, newly qualified embalmer. Beautifully written - I highly recommend.
