Jennifer (Antrim)

Hi my name is Jenny, I’m 40 and have recently got back into ready thanks to booktok. My favourite genre is horror, gothic and folk horror. Currently working through a very long TBR list (again thanks to booktok) and would like to connect with people with similar interests to discuss the books and offer further recommendations on books.

Seen through the eyes of several different characters. When you feel like you know what is going to happen, you are completely taken down a different direction. A fantastic twist at the end. Read in a day and a half, very difficult to set down.

Meghan (Lisburn)

I’m 27, from Lisburn. I read a mix of romance, thriller/mystery and the odd fantasy. I’m also trying to write my own novel (slow progress). I would like to find someone who shares the same love for reading as I do. My OG favourite is the Harry Potter set. Recently I have fallen down the BookTok rabbit hole and my bookshelf and bank account still haven’t forgiven me!

It’s a breath of fresh air and is written in an interview style which is a breeze when you get into the swing of it. You transport back in time and feel like you are part of the band. This book left a giant hole in my heart when I finished it and I wish I could erase from my memory and read it with fresh eyes again.

I couldn’t put this down. I fell in love with Liesel and Rudy and I went through every emotion while reading this.
Fairytale

This book. Wow. It blew my mind and left a gaping hole when I finished it. I couldn’t get into a book for weeks after finishing this one. It was magnificent and I couldn’t wait to get home from work to dive right back into the world King has opened.

Hollie (Newtownabbey)

I have always loved reading, I’m bubbly, outgoing and looking to meet others who share the same passion as me.. reading :) I love crime, non fiction true crime, autobiographies relating to nhs, psychological and thriller as well as knitting, crochet and craft books. Having had to come out of work due to mental health issues I found a lot of comfort in reading and audiobooks.

This totally unputtable down read. journey inside prison like no other. Features a raw honest account from a social worker who for over a decade she was in some of Britain’s most notorious prisons. Now she wants to tell the stories of the men she met, because she believes that prison is failing everyone, damaging the most vulnerable people in our societies, creating habitual criminals, leaving us all less safe and contributing to a society that is immeasurably less humane. Every year, we spend billions of pounds on a system that fundamentally doesn’t work. Prison is where the most damaged and vulnerable people in our society end up and we all need to urgently care about that, so we can change it. Because the state of our prisons is criminal.

This is the greatest story I've ever read. It was the book that changed everything for me. After sitting on my bookshelf for four years, I finally forced myself to read it, in 2018, and I'm glad I did. It was the first fiction book I ever read, and it absolutely blew my mind.
