Becky (Manchester)

I’ve recently moved the Greater Manchester Area and started reading again! I love thriller novels and romance/drama. I am also open to other genres, I find I can really get into it as long as it’s a good book. I love to chat about a good book but currently I am not apart of any book club, but I would like to start one! I would be willing to organize a book club in the Manchester area if anyone is interested. Please feel free to get into contact with me!

This book left me with my jaw on the floor. It is my most recent thriller read, and I could not put it down. I’ve read another book by this author and I have to say the twists and turns in his story leave me speechless.

belleanna (Ashton-under-Lyne)

I am a woman in her mid-twenties and an avid reader of all genres, but I rarely find someone to talk about books with! I would love to have a group of people to chat with regularly and also meet in person occasionally too if possible. It would be a lovely way to make new friends and share my love of books and literature! Please contact if this seems like something you’d be interested in!

This is a powerful and moving book about loss, oppression and the power of sisterhood and the strength of love even in the hardest times.

This was a recent high-fantasy read. The urban fantasy world building is incredible and the prose is beautiful whilst still being action packed. The characters are unforgettable and the bonds between them are the core of everything that happens. Would highly recommend.

I absolutely love escaping into a good fantasy book, especially with romance in, I also enjoy a good romance book or a thriller, although I do mainly stick to romantasies. I’m looking to join a book club because I have nobody to talk about books with, nobody I know reads the kind of books I love, so it would be great to connect with people who do. I have also struggled my whole life at making friends, so just connecting with people in general would be an amazing experience.

35F here, and I guess I'm looking to join a book club/group to nerd out with like-minded people. I do tend to lean more towards the fantasy genre and the sub-genres that fall under it (cosy fantasy, progression fantasy, litRPG etc) but I'm open to anything really and always happy to discover a new gem that I may have otherwise overlooked.

Whatgumpreads (Ashton-under-Lyne)

Making friends in your 30s seems almost impossible and I'd love to have more friends who enjoy reading, looking for a book club that meets up in person rather than online. I'm 33 and I love reading thrillers, my favourite series is The Collector Series by Dot Hutchison. I'd like to explore more horror after reading Left to You by Daniel Volpe, I read it over 2 years ago and I still remember every detail, which is very rare for me! Outside of books I'm an avid football and cricket fan, I love live music (just got back from Download festival and my feet still hurt) and I've been teetotal since December 2020.

Goths that read bookclub (Manchester)

We’re a small group of alternative women between the ages of 25-30 who love to read! We meet up once a month in Manchester City centre to discuss the book of the month. We all pick a book each which then goes into a random wheel generator to determine what book to read each month, that way we all get to read something we recommended! We read a mix of genres including horror, mystery, fantasy, romance. We’d love to grow our bookclub and get more girls involved! You don’t have to be alternative or goth, we just thought it was a funny name considering we all are a bit alternative!

Nikki (Ashton-under-Lyne)

I’m a horror-obsessed 27 y/o looking for a book club to meet up in person once a month, preferably horror genre (extreme horror and splatterpunk included) but I don’t mind a bit of crime thriller and fantasy now and again!

I love how dark and ominous this book is! It was a tad slow to start off with but as soon as it kicks in you don’t want to put the book down. Love the Irish folklore elements too

While this book definitely isn’t for the faint hearted and is at time super gross, I absolutely loved it! The children and parents all have their own developed personalities which makes it really easy to differentiate between them all (and it makes it easy for you to decide which characters you like and which you don’t). It’s definitely a shocking book at times but I appreciate it!
The Shuddering by Ania Ahlborn

The characters are all likeable which makes you that little bit more invested in them and the plot. It’s got moments or eeriness and dread and also has plenty of bold horror elements too!
Doctor Sleep by Stephen King

I loved The Shining but for me Doctor Sleep beats it by far! While it’s not exactly scary, there are some nasty scenes that really show you how evil some of the characters are. I also really love that we get to see how Danny grew up and how he moved on after the Overlook hotel.

I love the way each character develops and how the past meets the present day in the story and how each character adds to the magic of coming together to form an interesting plot.
