Goldenine (Nuneaton)

Hi fellow book people! I am a reader based near to Nuneaton that mostly gravitates towards fiction - predominantly fantasy, sci-fi and adventure stories, with a smidgen of romance thrown in for fun. I also enjoy horror and thriller stories, having been a big fan of Stephen King for many years. I'd love to be able to chat about characters/books with other like-minded people and get some new recommendations on series to try.

Goldenine recommends:

The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie

The First Law trilogy by Abercrombie is a great read for fantasy lovers - really immersive world building and interesting characters, who aren't just black and white in how they behave and interact.

A great little crime thriller, written in classic King style.

Rachel (Nuneaton)

I live near Nuneaton and would love to make new friends. I am a young woman who loves to read crime, psychological thrillers and have just started to read classical literature. Would love to meet new people and discover new book recommendations. I am a support worker, so my free days change regularly, but would want to try to meet up regularly.

Rachel recommends:

It is popular, but all in all one of my all time favourite books. Amazing plot and fantastic plot twist during the big reveal.
The Yellow Wall-Paper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman

A short story depicting a physician's wife descend into madness. The way the story is written makes you feel like you are on the journey with the main character. A truly unforgettable read for me.

Julie (Alcester)

I used to belong to a book club before Covid, meeting every 4 weeks but we never really got it going again. I retired last year and started thinking about joining another one recently. I love reading as do my 2 daughters so we often discuss and swap books. Belonging to a club made me read books I would never have considered and different genres . I am so pleased I did read them , as enjoyed them immensely but would never have chosen them myself. I like all sorts of genres but not too keen on sci-fi. I live in Redditch and did see something about meeting in a cafe in the town centre. I do not live far from Alcester so happy to go there if that is the nearest. I would be happy with monthly or less frequent meetings . Thank you Julie
