Set in Victorian Birmingham's Industrial Revolution, this is a warm hearted family saga about working class people striving to succeed despite family and criminal conflicts. The well researched Brummie historical nuggets please those who enjoy historical fiction. RIchly drawn characters with a plot unfolding over a series.

I wrote it myself as I imagine life as a London gangster would be, violence, retribution and a bit of love thrown in for good measure makks this a great read.

I loved how the book was so simple yet mindblowing—such a warm and light-hearted read.

Beautifully written and witty - and one that I go back to time and again and never tire of it. An extraordinary piece given the 'sheltered' life of its author.
