I am retired and have moved to Devizes. I like reading, mostly not too high brow but will tackle more challenging topics. I do like a book to stimulate discussion and perhaps take me out of my comfort zone with reading. I’m looking to join a local in person book group who meet every 4 or 5 weeks.

The Marriage Portrait

It was suggested by a friend and I would not normally be have chosen historical fiction. The book combines suspense , politics, art and the limited freedoms of women in 16th century. The suspense element gives the book momentum, and the main character is portrayed with emotional depth and intelligence.

I'm 57, an engineer, science fiction and action reader. I do a lot of photography, and I write science fiction. My favourite authors are Tolkien, Douglas Adams and Colin Forbes. I also am an author we two in a series of science fiction books and recently, a children's book, too.
