The Midwives

Meets at woolton Run by jean mcevoy Library service We are a group of midwives in Liverpool, and we get together to discuss our chosen book about once a month. We get our books from Woolton Library which is part of Liverpool city council Library services. We have an eclectic taste and read anything form Dickens to Joanna Trollope. We are an opinionated lot which sometimes provokes heated debate. At the moment we are reading Master Georgie by Beryl Banebridge and we are due to meet very soon. We have a democratic way of choosing the books, we each propose a book and say why we would like to read it and then we vote, and this seems to work quite well. We meet at: woolton, Liverpool, Merseyside, L25 8ST Tags women only

The Palm Readers

The Palm House is an iconic Grade 11* listed building in Liverpool that originally opened in 1896 to promote the local community's health and wellbeing. Even today, we continue this mission by running over 200 free community activities per year. Now that we are all staying at home, we have created the Palm Readers—an online book club that meets on Zoom every three weeks, as well as our private online Facebook Group. After we are able, we look forward to gathering in person again in the Palm House Café. New members are welcome, and they can join in by emailing audio, eBook, English as a second language, online, and Reading Ahead activities.

Oomoo Book Group

Meets at Oomoo Cafe on Run by Sarah Rigby Library service We\'re a very mixed group with one thing in common - we all love reading. The books are suggested and chosen by group members and as such cover all genres and tastes. Any one is welcome, whatever their level, no matter how much they normally read. We meet once a month and books are chosen well in advance to allow people time to access library copies or copies loaned from other members. It shouldn\'t be expensive to read! We occassionally organise group outings to literary events such as world book night and local book festivals. Our members represent a range of ages and backgrounds and we\'re a mixed gender group. Get in touch via the Oomoo cafe on Smithdown Road or via group contact details, but please let us know if you\'re coming along! Accessibility: good access but not perfect for wheelchairs - there is a small step up to the bathroom that can be managed with help (help always on hand), next to bus stop, low background noise levels, bring any small children along and get in touch with any requirements and we\'ll do our best to help. We meet at: Smithdown Road, Liverpool, Merseyside, L15 3JJ Accepting new members
