Mima

I was a complete bookworm during high school and college, growing up reading Jaqueline Wilson and being part of the magical world of Harry Potter but as I got older, life and social media completely consumed me. However that feeling I get from reading a book, has never changed and I would love to have people to share their thoughts and feelings when reading the same book as myself. I’m a fiction reader who loves a bit of romance (mainly the comedy form), mystery/thriller, mythological, historical and literary realism.

Mima recommends:

As Long As The Lemon Tree Grows by Zoulfa Katouh
As Long As The Lemon Tree Grows
by Zoulfa Katouh | Buy this book
If you liked ‘Kite Runner’, you will definitely love this book. There is a certain rawness about the way Zoulfa has written the book, it makes you feel like you’re walking alongside the main character, cheering her on as she navigates the harshness of what life offers her. The literary realism of this book is what makes you carry on reading, not wanting to put it down as you wish for the fairytale happy ending to counteract the despondency of real life.

Meg

Hi! I am 23, new to reading. I started as a way to improve my dyslexia and fell in love! I enjoy fantasy and romance and the occasional smut book. I'm looking for a way to meet new like minded people and try something new.

Meg recommends:

Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
Fourth Wing
by Rebecca Yarros | Buy this book
Throughout the whole book the descriptions on the characters, the kingdom and everything were just perfection. So many changes throughout that you just can't predict. This book is the sole reason I love to read and the best book ever!

Sarah

Hello, 33 year old here hoping to meet new people who actually want to talk about books! I was a big reader when I was younger and have recently got back into it after a very long slump. My tastes are eclectic however I’m finding that my favourite is fantasy (which is a new realisation so I have many to read!)

Sarah recommends:

This was my favourite book as a teenager and definitely deserves a feature here.
The Handmaid’s Tale

This is a book I fell in love with after reading it in college for one of my A-Levels. Moving, empowering and infuriating all in one. Also has an incredible TV series adaptation!

Always find these parts of the profile difficult to fill in but here goes! I'm in my early 40's and and have become a little more reserved as I have got older but still enjoy socialising with friends going to the cinema and all those things.

Enjoy sci-fi, crime fiction, drama and dystopian novels. Also like to read true life stories and biographical topics and books that tackle social issues and/or injustice. Over the last 5 years or so reading has been my go to activity. it would be great to be part of a wider book group of like minded people who would like read similar genres.

I loved this book as a kid and recently re read it and loved it all over again. Exciting science fiction story with the age old dangers of treating people badly because of their differences with heart wrenching moments along the way.

Katoodle

I'm looking to hopefully make some new friends and share the excitement of the story with. I'm 36, and seem to have completely isolated myself over the years of being a mother. I like reading fantasy romance and dark fantasy romance novels. Would love someone to share a book with and possibly make a new friend.

Kelly

I like romance and stories with a happy ending. Don't mind some angst on the way but like to shut off from stressed of the real world and know all will be ok in the end. I don't mind erotica in a book too.
