Penny Wheat (Stafford)

I am a public speaker and writer of non fiction. My latest book is Dead End and is described as 'Befriending the friendless. One woman's heart-warning encounters with murderers and sex offenders.' It is full of humour and anecdotes, despite the subject matter, and I would love to attend Sandon book club and share it with the membership.

Mum of 8. Home-educator (last one is almost 16 and home for one more year). Pastor's wife (and church admin). Past life was a midwife and now qualified antenatal practitioner (with NCT). I'm a person who truly loves books, but who seriously to read them without falling asleep! My family moved to SOT about a year ago and previously we were part of a home-ed book club that we both really enjoyed. I'd like (us) to find a new one! If we can't find anything suitable would anyone be interested in joining me and my teenager in Longton/Dresden? I have a comfy cafe space at our church that we could use (and we have a car-park!)... We would choose to avoid horror, magic & mysticism in the books we read, but most other genres are 👍🏻. Share your email if you're interested - especially if you have/are teen or young adult because my son would be glad to meet some more young people this age... Ps - we are not avid book nerds, but we do love the social chit chat of a book club!

I loved this book, it’s definitely one of my favourites! A book about love and heart break, a woman who falls in love with an avoidant in the hope one day he might chose her. It covers a lot in mental health and the recovery of the womans emotions wellbeing! I loved it I definitely got sucked in but I think it was quite relatable.

Even though this is a children's book, it deals with some mature themes. It is spooky, adventurous, and unique. All the characters have distinct personalities and I enjoy the representation of complicated friendships.
