Simon (Cannock)

Retired boomer, avid reader since the age of 4. When I ran out of books which I often did, I would read the dictionary, or a thesaurus. I have eclectic tastes, but stay away from horror and tend to like positive outcomes rather than tear jerkers. In need of intellectual stimulation, maybe finding new authors, books - never too late for new things.

Simon recommends:

Sci-fi mixed with philosophy and humour. Our routine existence our world even, seems so safe so mundane, but it could be far from that and this book could give you a new perspective, much like when astronauts saw the first earth rise from the moon.

Niamh (Lichfield)

Hi, I’m Niamh! I’ve always loved getting lost in a good book and enjoy discovering new stories, perspectives, and ideas. Whether it’s fiction, memoirs, or thought-provoking non-fiction, I love discussing books and hearing different interpretations. I’m looking to join a book group to connect with fellow book lovers, share recommendations, and have meaningful conversations over a great read.

Sapphire’s unique book club (Cannock)

This book club has a unique twist where we will meet up and talk about the books we have been reading rather than everyone reading the same book. This is an idea I had as I am very set in the genres that I read but still like to hear about what others have read to see if this may interest me and I feel like everyone can then read at there own pace and potentially find a new book that is interesting to them.

Whilst reading this book I felt like I was in the book rather than reading it. There are many twists and turns and it is well written. I won’t give any information away as I don’t want to spoil for anyone but I highly recommend reading this book.

Shambo (Stoke-on-Trent)

Eclectic Reader Seeking Literary Adventure Partners! Are you someone who dives into multiple books at once, jumping between worlds and genres with enthusiasm? I'm an avid reader with diverse tastes, currently exploring the poignant storytelling of Christy Lefteri's 'The Book of Fire' while also immersing myself in young adult fantasy with Marissa Meyer's Lunar Chronicles series (just finished 'Cinder' and eagerly anticipating the next installment!). I'm looking to connect with fellow book lovers who share my passion for varied storytelling – whether it's contemporary fiction, fantasy, or anything in between. Hoping to find a group where we can: - Share our reading journeys and discoveries - Motivate each other to reach our reading goals - Discuss different perspectives on the same book - Create a welcoming space for all genres and reading styles If you're also juggling multiple books across different genres and looking for a community to share your literary adventures with, let's connect! After all, our TBR piles aren't getting any smaller, but they're more fun to tackle together! Who's ready to embark on this bookish journey alongside me?!

LucyReadsRomance (Uttoxeter)

I’m Lucy, a 33 year old romance book obsessive, new to Staffordshire. I’m looking to connect with other people who love romance books, and sometimes thrillers! I have a colossal TBR list that I’m working through in 2025, and would love to chat to other bookish types!

LucyReadsRomance recommends:

You and Me On Vacation by Emily Henry
You and Me On Vacation
by Emily Henry | Buy this book
It’s an adult romance novel where the two main characters have so much back story and they’re just enchanting as a pairing. The tension builds so well through the book. Honestly anything Emily Henry writes in golden in my view, but this is one of my favourites.
Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman
Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine

This is my all-time favourite book. The narration is rather unique, I believe Eleanor may be neurodivergent but either way her view on the world and the tragic life she lives is fascinating.
