I’m in my early 30s new(ish) to the area, and keen to find new books, stay on track with reading them, and make new friends! My favourite genres are crime, thrillers, and fantasy

A 31 woman who has fallen in love with reading again. Having moved back to Dorset nearly 4 years ago, I have struggled to meet new, likeminded people and make friends - so would love to find book group to help find my tribe. The memes of “you read Harry Potter and Hunger games as a kid, then had a 10 year gap, picked up ACOTAR and now reading is your personality”, its a perfect description of me ☺️ I love to get lost in the pages, preferring fantasy and romance books but will give any good recommendation a try. Hope to speak to some of you soon.

This series really kickstarted my reading journey this year and unashamedly has a chokehold on me! The dragons, character dynamics and cliffhangers have left me wanting more. Yes this book is not for everyone but I will recommend it, along with ACOTAR for those who want to explore Romantasy books for the first time or long standing fantasy fans.

Hello! Im 31 and I love reading nearly as much as I love cats. I’m new to the book world as such and am always keen for recommendations. Literary fiction is my go to, but I also enjoy non fiction - anything which explores the complexity of what it means to be human.

The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt

I am new to the area and I thought joining a book club would be a good way of meeting people. I have never belonged to a book club .I would like to join a club that has a social aspect as well as sharing information on authors and books.

Gwen recommends:

A waiter in Paris by Edward Chisholm

This book transfers the reader to the “underbelly” of life as a waiter in Paris. Some of the language is crude but it accentuates the harshness of the environment. The brutal truth of working in this environment is quite thought provoking.
