Anthony Paul (Tewkesbury)

I’m retired and haven’t been in a book club before. I enjoy factual, political, documentary, sociological, British novels, popular scientific, thriller. Less so historical, fantasy, horror. I’m sure one gets more out of reading if comparing the experience with others.

I especially enjoy contemporary and literary fiction, and would love to find a group - ideally men and women of mixed ages - who do too! It's also great to discover forgotten masterpieces and the diverse viewpoints of other cultures such as Japan and Korea.

I like to read books on self help, religion, spirituality. Currently reading 'How to read a book' by Mortimer J Adler (1940's edition). I didn't learn to read properly/hated reading at school. I'm looking to increase my reading level for knowledge. I'm early 30's and want to be a part of a book club to push myself.

I am pretty quiet, but I like to think sometimes I can be funny. I am originally from South Africa & have only been in the UK for just over a year. I love reading & spending my time to wholesome activities- I work in mental health & this has aided me to look after myself more too. I’m looking for find friends or to meet likeminded people to get out more that’s not a night out (not really my thing) & looking for some good books to read along the way!
