This book is so good if you like serial killer books, it makes reference a lot to Jack the ripper and honestly had me on the edge of my seat wanting to know more!

Questioning can a monster become a man, and man become a god?

It's lyrical throughout, each and every sentence feels so deliberate and meaningful. It's told from the perspective of an infamous character who is retelling their story, while they hide from the outside world. It's beautiful and tragic, in a world of characters so three dimensional, they feel tangible.

The story feels so helplessly real. Two young women growing up in a post war Naples facing the inherent misogyny of the time. The harrowing journey is told both masterfully and plainly. It's best described through this line from the second book: "I will give what I can give, I will take what I can take, I will endure what has to be endured."

It’s a book every woman should read. It’s very empowering. The writer is a psychotherapist and there are themes of pain, entrapment, liberation of the self running through this.

Based on a true story, feel every moment, living life on the edge and coming out the other side with such a wonderful book that I’m pleased to see has been so successful for her and her family. Totally inspiring.
