Samantha Cash (Oxford)

My sister (28) just moved to Oxford, and I (31) will be staying with her for almost two months. We're looking for a fun, like-minded group to gather with and discuss our favorite books. Both of us are passionate readers and have enjoyed being part of several book clubs in the past. Our tastes are eclectic—everything from romance and fantasy to hard science, non-fiction, and horror. We’re always down for casual meetups at the pub, but we especially love the idea of themed events!

Samantha Cash recommends:

Tresa of the Emerald Sea
by Brandon Sanderson | Buy this book
This book is just a delight! If I had to give an elevator pitch it would be: the princess Bride, but Buttercup gets to be the rescuer… and also kinda Dr. Who. Synopsis: Tress leaves her peaceful island home to go on a pirate adventure to rescue the love of her life from an evil witch. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Lucy (Oxford)

Hi I'm Lucy - I'm in my 30s, and I love to read. Most recent on my read list are: The count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas, The History of the world in six glasses by Tom Standage The Very Secret Society of irregular witches by Sangu Mandanna. I read anything from non-fiction to Classics, art theory to romantasy - love to apply the things I've read in theory to the texts I'm reading. Currently reading: girl online by Joanna Walsh (a manifesto of sorts about the ways women interact with online spaces) and Vanity Fair by Thackeray. Looking to either join and start a book group with people who want to read together, talk about what we're reading, drink some wine and make pals. (non alcoholic beverages are of course available!)

Cherry (Thame)

I would like to join a book club mainly as I love reading and it is always interesting to get someone else’s perspective on a book. Also I you would I assume read books that you wouldn’t necessarily have chosen yourself giving a broader range of authors to choose from . I have recently moved back to Thame and as well as reading books it would be lovely to meet new people.

It is a book about Hades x Persephone and its starts of quite tame, but gradually by the end of the book, there’s multiple scenes for the over 18 eye 😎
