Emily

Hi, I’m Emily, 45 and an avid reader. I’d love to meet up over coffee and talk about a book and get suggestions from others on what to read next. I love dystopian fiction, historical drama, crime and chick lit. Always interested in new genres and new suggestions.

28 and recently moved to Eastbourne. I'm currently loving getting back into reading, and thought a book club would be a great way to meet some new people. I like reading a mix of books, usually modern fiction or something on the Booker list, but also like crime, and fantasy. I'm not great at sticking with non-fiction, but would happily give it a try! Ideally would like to set up a monthly book group for people in their 20s and 30s in Eastbourne :)

31 from Eastbourne. Love love love reading I always have done . I read every minute I can which is less these days because I have an autistic non verbal child. So getting out the house to go and read will be an absolute dream. I read just about anything. I'm a huge mood reader with a very long TBR. Historical fiction I can't get In to buy other that that were away haha. 💪🏼

Hello I’m a 37yo F from Eastbourne. I really like reading a wide genre of books, particularly thrillers, crime, romance. I read everyday, and I’m looking for the social element of joining a book club and discussing reads together - also being pushed to read novels I wouldn’t normally!

I’m 48, female, and self employed so have flexible times to enjoy books and storytelling. I particularly enjoy fantasy with a smattering of romance and spirituality, and a bit of magic :) Humour and cleverly put together narrative are especially enjoyable to me :) Looking to connect with like minds - lots of my reading is done in parks and on the beach and I’d love to meet with others either outdoors, or in libraries, cafes, etc to read the same or different things. Would love to hear from you.

Tina

I am in my 50s and have just started a full time admin role, but it is mainly working from home so I have most evenings free (Netflix can be addictive but I want to keep my brain active). I avidly listen to audio books but would like to get back to reading the old fashioned way! I like popular fiction, self help, biographies or anything thought-provoking and discussion-worthy.

Tina recommends:

Sociopath by Patric Gagne
Sociopath

The female author diagnosed herself as a sociopath, and decided to take control of her life and fight against her instincts in order to be ‘normal’. Surprisingly addictive and uplifting read.

So looking for an evening book club to have friendly and interesting discussion with like minded people and to widen my social circle. I do work full-time, have two small grandchildren, go to the gym regularly and generally very busy person but would like to do something more for me! I live in Polegate so Pevensey is within easy distance for me.

Hi, I am a 34 year old Romantasy book lover! Although I love romantasy, I am also partial to all genres, including historical fiction, thriller and horror. I am at the point where I have exhausted all my non-reader friends with stories of Fae and dragons, so looking for a book club who won’t exhaust from book chats!

Hi, I used to be an avid reader but have fallen into a rut and I was hoping joining a book club would help. I love thrillers, drama but I'm reading a lot of African fiction recently.

Seun recommends:

The Death of Vivek Oji by Akwaeke Emezi
The Death of Vivek Oji

The story and plot is different to anything I had read in a long time and I was hooked from beginning to the last page. The writing evoked emotions in me. I mean the book is literally called the death of Vivek Oji, but when he died, I was so sad, I cried.
