I was a keen reader when I was younger and now that I'm in my 40s I find myself wanting to get back into the habit.

Circe
by Madeleine Miller | Buy this book
The story of Circe the enchantress, an important but secondary character in the Odyssey, has her life story told. From her life growing up in the court of Helios, to her exile to her island, to what comes next... Whether you are a fan of Greek mythology or not, this is a gripping blend of enchanting mythology and brutal family drama. I read this book over a weekend and couldn't put it down. It has some heart-breaking moments and some really inspiring ones too. I'd re-read this and would recommend it in a heartbeat.

Hello! I am Sri. I am a doctor. I love reading because it allows me to explore new ideas, cultures, and perspectives. I enjoy engaging in meaningful discussions about books and sharing my thoughts as well as listening to others’ insights. I believe being part of a book group will help me discover new genres and authors, deepen my understanding of stories, and build connections with fellow readers. I look forward to participating actively and contributing to our shared reading experiences!

I’m a curious individual who is very interested in people, cultures and languages. Despite this, I rarely ever read and due to my growing concern of not sharpening myself with knowledge and wisdom during my leisure time, I want to join a book club to have an environment that makes me want to read in an enjoyable manner.

Alex_she/her

Hi! I’ve been running several book clubs over the past few years. This year I’m changing cities and countries, so I’d like to form a group for meeting online. I love reading fantasy and speculative fiction, sci-fi, and dramatic stories. I don’t mind revisiting some classics I skipped during school and university. Here are some of the last books I’ve read and would be happy to discuss to kick things off: The Three-Body Problem by Liu Cixin, Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood, Piranesi by Susanna Clarke, The Dispossessed by Ursula K. Le Guin, The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August by Claire North, The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy, Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin, Yellowface by R. F. Kuang, Everything Calls for Salvation by Daniele Mencarelli, Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto, etc. Message me if this sounds like your kind of thing, and feel free to write a few words about yourself.

I binge read books I like, especially page turners. My favourite genres are historical fiction, fantasy, romance and politics. The sweet spot is all of the above mixed in one. Strangely I dislike Non-fiction like I'm allergic to them. I'm in mid 20s and teaching. Would love to meet other readers locally and looking to find a good club!

I used to have a book club with friends years ago which was fun and we’d meet once a month at a restaurant and chat about the book and then drink wine, have some food and some laughs. Sadly, they’ve all moved away so I’m looking for another group of book lovers (aged 25-50) to have fun with. I’m in Twickenham
