Hello, I enjoy reading mainly non-fiction, but I am looking for new ways to engage my brain by reading a variety of genres and discussing the resultant thoughts that arise! Now in my 50's, and after lifetime of 'non-stuctured' activity, I would like to see what 'joining' has to offer, and what I can hopefully offer it! I live in Twickenham BTW, South West London.

Books and snacks

I'm looking to start a book club in South West London with around five people reading mostly fantasy, romance, thriller, and general fiction. The group will meet to discus the chosen book once a month over a drink or two and some food. Books I've read recently and loved are: Tom Lake, Anastasia, The Only One Left, and Lessons in Chemistry. Some books on my TBR that I'm excited to read are: Tress of the Emerald Sea, Deadly Little Scandals, Rebecca, and The Fox Wife. If you are interested in reading some great books and chatting with friends then I'd love to hear from you!

I'm looking for a book club where I can expand my horizons and where I can meet new people, build friendships and be part of an open-minded community. My favourite genres are: classic fiction, within non-fiction anything around anthropology, sociology, social sciences, feminism, gender studies and mythology and folklore.

Vee recommends:

Caliban and the Witch by Silvia Federici

A wonderful, eye-opening and painful essay on how witch hunts, slavery and social repression were key to the birth of capitalism.

I love reading and when I find a great book I'm excited to talk about it and share my experience. I mostly enjoy fantasy, romantasy, historical fiction, and thrillers but recently I've been wanting to try new genres and read more general fiction. I would be keen to branch out into some classics as well. I recently moved to the UK and am wanting to meet new people and find some great friends.

Id like to meet 1 to 2 times a month! I am really into reading all types of books but these are definitely my usual favorites, philosophical fiction, non-fiction & fiction, social criticism and psychology. Very broad like I said haha. Looking to make friends and be a queer community

Looking to make new friends as many of mine have had kids/moved away from London. Ideally looking for a monthly/quarterly book club, more interested in classics than contemporary fiction.

I am a young graduate working in Mayfair. I have a love of literature, but being from a stem background I lack a network that shares this passion and cultivates it further. I’d like to join a club to expand my horizon, particularly around the Greats, which are an interest of mine.

The Book Club

I founded a book club that ran for 25 years, until it was brought to a (hopefully temporary) halt by Covid. Eventually comprising seven regular members (4 women and 3 men), it met once a month, usually in a restaurant in Central London, and discussed a wide range of literature, both fiction and non-fiction, prose and poetry, from Greek and Roman classics in translation to recent literary novels. (On one significant anniversary, we agreed that our favourite book club read had been Alexandre Dumas's The Count of Monte Cristo.) Three or four of us would like to rekindle the group with fresh blood, so I would love to hear from anyone interested in joining us.

One of the most fun and inventive books I've ever read. It takes the history of the universe as its jumping off point for some beautiful and playful short stories.
