True life that reads like a great thriller. Incredible story of a criminal who became a war hero. The film "Triple Cross" (Christopher Plummer) does not do justice to the true story.

Part of a trilogy featuring Thomas Cromwell. Unusual prose, then the penny drops, we're in the head of Thomas, his thoughts, observations, actions are shared with the reader intimately. Made a great TV series from it.

I read this before the TV series. It is amazing. I could not have imagined being enthralled by the story of man imprisoned in a Moscow hotel after the 1917 revolution but it grips at the heartstrings.

Agatha Christie meets Joseph Conrad. Murder mystery. The first book by AM that I read and I became a fan, especially of his Sean Duffy NI detective stories set during the troubles. His latest novels are The Chain, and The Island, both massive bestsellers.
Slow Horses by Mick Herron

Espionage brought brilliant to life by the tv series starring Gary Oldman. The prose is amazing, the humour dark, the danger of double and triple-crossing. A great series of books.
The Power of the Dog by Don Winslow

Part of a trilogy. Not the easiest read - quite detailed on the horrors and atrocities of the drug lords in Central and South America. A pageturner all the same.

Saj

Hi. I’ve been a reader all my life. I don’t have any specific genres that I enjoy more, just always got a book on the go. I mostly read books that are recommended to me. Books take me to different places, meet different people, learn new phrases and words. The joy of getting into a book and liking or disliking the characters can draw you in completely. Me, I’ve just become a grandmother and feel overwhelmed with love for this little girl. My life is full and happy. However, I’ve aways wanted to join a book club to discuss these great books. So if anyone would like an additional member or would like to form a book club with me, get in touch. Saj

Loved the two worlds/ sliding doors aspect to the story. How one choice can change the shape of our life. What ifs! Great narrative of friendship and relationships and how they form our lives.

Beautifully written about humanity, love and pain. Set in India the main characters initially unrelated destinies cross each others paths. Thoughtful, provoking and will make you experience strong emotions.

I love this book so much, it's like if all the fantasies I grew up reading suddenly had female leads and diverse representation and dragons. The world building is phenomenal, I felt like I lived inside this book and I honestly never wanted to leave.

TheArtyBibliophile

I love reading fantasy but am interested in expanding the genres I read. I enjoy annotating books for discussion but not being in a book club means I don’t get a lot of opportunities to talk about books
