Christine

Recently back living in Gargrave after a few years away, almost retired and missing my previous book group. I’m an avid reader of quality contemporary fiction but also open to reading other genres including travel and nature writing. Writers I particularly enjoy include Donna Tartt, Rose Tremain, William Boyd, Julian Barnes as well as younger writers like Sally Rooney. Happy to share hosting and set up a new group if there’s interest.

SKRiley

I’m an avid reader who would love to be able to talk about books with like minded people.

The midnight library by Matt Haig
The midnight library
by Matt Haig | Buy this book
It lives out the fantasy of what if? A world where you can live out all your what if moments and understand that your life is what it is because of the choices you make and that they are made for a reason.

Jamie

I'm an avid reader with eclectic tastes and would like the chance to talk amongst a group with a number of different perspectives. I'm interested in meeting people from all backgrounds.

This book offers a really varied exploration of different "underland" places, featuring different geographies, geologies and anecdotal reflections from Macfarlane.

Kristina

Hi, I am a mother to 4 sons, two of who are fully grown and left home, and two teenagers who are growing up too fast for my liking, that being said, I have a lot more time on my hands, so I’m starting to revisit all the things I love doing and haven’t always had the time for, and reading is one of them. I have always loved the idea of book groups, so here I am. Looking forward to joining!?!

BookloverJo

Hi, I’ve always loved reading but now find it difficult to find a book that is “unputdownable”. Would welcome recommendations and an opportunity to meet new people/make new friends. No favourite genre although I don’t enjoy fantasy, and count Maggie O’Farrell and Mary Wesley among my favourite authors.

BookloverJo recommends:

After You’d Gone by Maggie O’Farrell

Superbly written, story of complex relationships and emotions, draws you in emotionally and keeps you hooked till the end.
