Kayleigh Anne (Chester-le-Street)

I’m an enthusiastic reader with a love for a wide range of genres, though I’m especially drawn to historical books (both fiction and non-fiction), thrillers, true crime, and dystopian fiction. I enjoy books that explore human behaviour, moral choices, and the social forces that shape our lives. My all-time favourite book is The Choice by Edith Eger — a powerful and deeply human story that continues to stay with me. I’m looking forward to connecting with others who enjoy thoughtful discussion and discovering new books along the way.

Kayleigh Anne recommends:

Barnetto (Seaham)

I’m Andrew, a UK-based reader who gravitates toward sci‑fi and fantasy with strong world‑building, clever systems, and a bit of oddness. I love stories that reward paying attention — the kind where you can dig into how things work, why characters make the choices they do, and what the setting is really saying beneath the surface. I’m looking for a relaxed, curious book club that enjoys thoughtful discussion without getting overly serious. This is supposed to be fun after all.

Barnetto recommends:

Aven (Durham)

Hi, I love horror novels, especially historical horror. I also like a bit of fantasy but all of those tend to overlap anyway. I'm looking for people to enthuse about books with in a pretty cafe :)

Aven recommends:

Deliver us from Evil by Tom Holland

It's a perfect moody winter book set in late oliver cromwell times before the monarchy restoration. It involves history, religious mythology and rituals but is mainly about vampires and this demon guy. Very cozy read

Hayley (Durham)

Hi, I've been meaning to find a book club to find out what's popular and what others are reading. I'm an avid reader, currently enjoying historical fiction, romance and dystopian novels. I especially enjoy the dystopian genre.

Hayley recommends:

Normal People by Sally Rooney
Normal People

I love the way Rooney writes: matter of fact but also relatable and conversational. Believable. I enjoyed it thoroughly, enough to read it twice! I also enjoyed the BBC series.
Go as a river by Shelley Read

The beauty of Read's description of the wilderness and nature in the Colorado mountains will live rent free in my mind for a long time. Her writing is very atmospheric with beautiful characters.

Hi; I’m looking to make new friends and discuss all things book related. I’m a big fan of dystopian and fantasy but am also a sucker for a good romance novel. Overall, I’m looking to connect with people who are as passionate about reading as I am! My age range is 25-30.

This is a book i constantly re read because of its importance, especially in this day and age! It’s dark but so true to the society we live in today and I constantly find myself rereading it.

Silpa (Durham)

27F - I mainly like fantasy, sci-fi, historical fiction, and classics. Tolkien is my favourite author but Pratchett and Austen are up there too. Would love to just meet up and talk books, either one on one or as part of a small group.

Silpa recommends:

Going Postal by Terry Pratchett
Going Postal
by Terry Pratchett | Buy this book
One of my favourite Discworld novels of all time! It can serve as a standalone novel so no prior Discworld experience needed. A conman is hanged for his crimes in Ankh-Morpork... but not to the death. The Patrician of the city offers him a second chance, and he is appointed as the Postmaster General of the city's failing post office. There's also a mystery involved, just the slightest hint of romance, and lots of delightful comedic moments. Can't recommend it enough!

Hi, I live in Newton Aycliffe. I enjoy a good book and would be interested to listen to other opinions on books read. Im not a great talker but would just be happy to be in a group where I can listen and perhaps pluck up the courage to contribute at some point. I think an online club would work better for me.

Eden (Consett)

Hi, i have recently gotten back into reading and would love to meet like minded people! I'm 28, and my favourite genres are fantasy/romantasy and horror, especially medieval horror

Eden recommends:

The Devils by Joe Abercrombie
The Devils

This book is amazing - a proper fantasy adventure with dry british humour, brilliant characters, and ideal pacing. The Devils is interesting all the way through; even in during tamer chapters, I didn't want to put it down.

Charlotte (Durham)

Usually when I read books, I end up not having anyone to share my thoughts on it with. I think it'd be nice to see others' perpectives for once so we can tell eachother what we thought.

It does the mystery very well! When I re-read the book, I noticed all the details that hinted towards the ending. There were so many plot twists, too. I pulled an all nighter to read it, not only because the book was great, but because I love time loop books.
