Lara (St Ives)

Hello! I am an outdoor (and online) psychotherapist living in Hayle with my therapy dog fox-red lab Alba. I love reading all sorts of genres not just for work and therapeutic topics but a lot of personal pleasure and novels reading, non fiction, even ghost genre, Cornish period types at the moment, self help - all sorts… Just finished “13 Cornish Ghost stories” (anthology) and am on “Botanical short stories” for an exploration of anthologies… Next will be “The Cove”… but looking to find a book group/club for coffee/wine for some more in depth chats of the human condition, drama, characters of the books that are read and wishing to find the right match… :-)

Kirsty Koral (Redruth)

I love to read anything, fiction and non-fiction. The genres I probably read the most are historical fiction, the classics, feminist contemporary and gothic. I have shelves and shelves of unread books and would love to meet some people who love reading as much as I do.

Dan (Redruth)

Hi! I'm Dan, 38, in the Camborne area. Literature sucked me in as a child and has never let me go. These days I mostly read genre fiction, particularly fantasy and sci-fi, interspersed with some crime, historical fiction and thrillers. I'm interested in meeting people with similar tastes to discuss our favourite reads.

Dan recommends:

The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
The Name of the Wind
by Patrick Rothfuss | Learn more and buy
As much as I love it, I'll concede that much fantasy writing is plot-driven and prosaic. Rothfuss is different. His language is poetic, at times like a mental caress, sometimes sweeping and epic, full of clever wordplay. The book has flaws (not least that it begins a trilogy that may never be completed), but whenever I read it I'm reminded why I love the genre.
