Hey I’m Chelsey, I’m 29 and live near Derby! I’m really loving fantasy at the moment as well as dark romance, and open to anything else. I’d love to either start or join a book club locally where we can have an online chat going as well as meet up every month or so, grab a drink and have a natter. Feel free to find me on instagram - xc.br

I’m pretty new to Derby and would love to join a book club to meet some people locally! I’m reading a lot of fantasy at the moment but usually into crime, thriller and anything by Sally Rooney.

I love books, I’ve always been a big reader but feel like it would be nice to join a book club! At the moment I’m pretty much just reading romance, but I’ve read all kinds of things (English graduate).

Sandra (Hathersage)

A bit of an introvert - I can spend (ahem, days) alot time on my own, love my home, my garden, my cat. But also enjoy chatting with friends over a coffee and would like to meet some other bibliophiles.

Sandra recommends:

It transports you to rural China in the 19th Century. Foot binding is still happening, and although we see this as a barbaric practice today, we are drawn into the culture, religion and beliefs of the day. Really interesting and although in places sad, also riveting.

Let's get this out first - not a fan of Sci-Fi or dystopian, aliens etc. Love a good whodunnit, historical drama and "easy reading". Just finished "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan" by Lisa See. Brilliant read. Would like to join a book club and hopefully make some new friends?

I love reading but don’t have anyone with similar interests to chat book with. Some writers I like: Iris Murdoch, Bulgakov, Henry James, Emily Brontë, Dostoyevsky, Ishiguro, Camus, Leonora Carrington, Arthur Koestler, Shakespeare, Shelley (both of them), Goethe, Jorge Luis Borges.

I like well written modern fiction - William Boyd and Graham Swift for example - and also fond of short stories. I am open minded and nterested in some other genres and will give most things a try.
