Sarah Emily (Chesterfield)

I love books, I’ve always been a big reader but feel like it would be nice to join a book club! At the moment I’m pretty much just reading romance, but I’ve read all kinds of things (English graduate).

Sandra (Hathersage)

A bit of an introvert - I can spend (ahem, days) alot time on my own, love my home, my garden, my cat. But also enjoy chatting with friends over a coffee and would like to meet some other bibliophiles.

Sandra recommends:

Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See

It transports you to rural China in the 19th Century. Foot binding is still happening, and although we see this as a barbaric practice today, we are drawn into the culture, religion and beliefs of the day. Really interesting and although in places sad, also riveting.

Let's get this out first - not a fan of Sci-Fi or dystopian, aliens etc. Love a good whodunnit, historical drama and "easy reading". Just finished "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan" by Lisa See. Brilliant read. Would like to join a book club and hopefully make some new friends?

I love reading but don’t have anyone with similar interests to chat book with. Some writers I like: Iris Murdoch, Bulgakov, Henry James, Emily Brontë, Dostoyevsky, Ishiguro, Camus, Leonora Carrington, Arthur Koestler, Shakespeare, Shelley (both of them), Goethe, Jorge Luis Borges.

Dot H (Ashbourne)

I like well written modern fiction - William Boyd and Graham Swift for example - and also fond of short stories. I am open minded and nterested in some other genres and will give most things a try.

I love reading romance, historical and fantasy books. I would love to meet a few times a month to discuss different books, get new recommendations and meet new people. I work as a primary school teacher so evenings and weekends are all open for reading 😁😁

This book got me back into reading in 2012. I love the world that's created and the twists and turns in the series.

Danielle (New Mills)

Lives in New Mills. Reading has always been a solitary hobby but the books I tend to read would be awesome to discuss with other people to see what they think, as I think 2 people can read the same book and come away with completely different things. Currently reading: A Little Life
