This book is historically elucidating. I could sense the plight of the protagonists across several generations. It gave an insight into the cross-generational struggles of family secrets

Jeremy (Hastings)

I have read widely, but my present preference seems to be contemporary literature. For example, I enjoy an experimental form of writing by authors such as Lorrie Moore and Celeste Ng. Also I like the more allegorical sense of magic realism. I'm not a great fan of crime fiction or where murder is the central tenet of the narrative - this is not to say I do not go there, I just prefer authors whose imaginations break outside the norms. Pop fiction can be quite fun, especially when they provide some new thought or insight.
