I love reading (ok, that’s a touch superfluous…). All genres really. Favourite books - The English Patient, Michael Ondaatje - A Burnt Out Case, Graham Greene - Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, John Le Carre Currently reading Rivers of London by Ben Aaronovitch I’m looking for a group of people to have some easy, light-hearted fun with.

I read around one book a week and I'm trying to write my first novel, too. Would love to connect with others in the Torquay area over a mutual love of reading.

Dean

I love exploring different worlds whether that is historical fiction, future fantasy or a contemporary novel. Recent titles have included "Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow", "The skeleton key" and "Before your memory fades". Authors that I go back to are Ken Follet, Robert Harris and Ian McEwan. But I love to find new authors, such as my recommendation below.

Dean recommends:

Quality writing that reminds me of Ian McEwan and Ian Banks. A great story that makes me think and reconsider my perspective.

I am retired and recently lost my husband so am in quite a lonely place at the moment. I love reading so think that joining a book club would be good for me to meet new people and discuss books we have all read

I love Wilbur Smith’s series set in Africa and can picture myself there having been to the locations where some of them are set.
