Deep diving into two series at the minute, the excellent Kim Stone series by Angela Marsons is based in the Black Country and ideally I want to chat nonsense about the book, read at the same pace as someone and talk about it as if it was something on TV etc Someone that gets far too deeply engrossed in every book I read, but do you know something? I wouldn't change it for the world. People have their consoles, TV shows, movies etc. I have books in the same manner; thats not to cast those other hobbies aside, it's just that I'd sooner take a book every day of the week and twice on Sundays. There's nothing better than switching off from the world and spending hours finding out what's going on. Looking to connect with others who are interested in the thriller/crime genre

Latest one I've read in the Kim Stone series and the reintroduction of Dr Thorne makes it all the more better, definitely one to check out (start from the beginning of the series though)

Unique use of ‘flashbacks’ - rather than whole chapters dedicated to the background of a character, a few paragraphs / pages are used (much like how we recall a memory for a few moments, then return to the here and now)

Pete

I have a great love for sci-fi - especially golden age stuff: yesterday's futures, so to speak. I also appreciate good "mainstream" fiction. At the moment I am reading "Name of the Rose" by Umberto Ecco: I loved both the film and the recent series. I also read a lot of non-fiction, history, biography and natural history. I suppose I like the idea of having more conversations about the books I read.

Pete recommends:

Tutus Groan
by Mervyn Peake | Buy this book
This wonderful gothic fantasy is the first of a trilogy, that stands head and shoulders above all else in the genre - yes, even above Lord of the Rings (which I do love, by the way).

Hi, I am Lucy and I'm 29 from near Wolverhampton. Looking for other people or a book club because I don't know many bookish people from my area. I will read pretty much any book and at the moment I'm splitting my time between the Throne of Glass, The Witcher and The Bill Hodges trilogy :)

I have always loved reading books as a kid. Now in my early 30s, I m trying to be more consistent and read more. I mainly read fiction crime and mystery and now started reading some self help books. I am also looking for recommendations from other genres. Maybe we can be friends and chat about the books we read!

Keiran

Hi, I'm a big reader of thrillers and horror looking for something to beat some reading discipline into me, would love to read out of my comfort zone. In my spare time I make short films, play piano and run tabletop RPGs in a quest to be a complete walking stereotype.

Keiran recommends:
