I like how it’s deep and emotional and detailed

A very lonely and intimate book. It is incredibly physical, with characters possessing odd bodies that look, move and act in dysfunctional ways. It is a different way of approaching the grotesque as since everything from the setting, main and side characters, is 'freakish,' the 'freakish' becomes the norm; if you aren't a 'freak,' you aren't 'normal.' Nothing much happens in terms of plot, but what one's gender, race, sexuality and disability mean to the self and its relevance to society is questioned as these characters attempt to express themselves and to become comfortable with their identities.

When you read this book, you can manage your main. It's very useful

From the very beginning, the story takes an eloquently beautiful look on life, and in particular, death. It is gut-wrenchingly sad, and made me cry heavily. 10/10 my favourite book.

If you are looking for a book that has romance, fantasy and little smut this is the book for you. I was hooked from page one, Sabaa Tahir has such beautiful writing that encapsulates you into another world. it has drama, suspense, comedy, and most of all Elais.

To me everything is great about this book. I love how the story unfolds, rarely being told in the present and mostly done through flashback. None of the characters I feel were overly likeable but the writing enabled me to still feel empathy for them. I liked the mix of coming of age, mystery and dark academia in one of my favourite book settings: a boarding school!

I love how the main charecter in the book risked her life to make sure she gets her grandmas medince. She crosses into a war zone to reteive it. Its a real life based book and its pretty fast paced.
