Kate

I am Kate, a retired teacher who loves to read. I like thrillers, crime fiction and the occasional romance (very occasional!). I also think that children's books can be excellent. Authors like Phillip Pullman and Michael Morpurgo are among my favourites. Anthony Horowitz, the creator of Foyle's War on TV, has written entertaining adult and YA fiction.

Kate recommends:

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Book Society
by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. | Buy this book
Starting in the austerity of post war England, it recounts the tale of Juliet Ashton, a writer, who loves reading. She buys a second hand book by Charles Lamb and connects with the previous owner. They start a correspondence, which leads to all sorts of developments, resulting in Juliet going to Guernsey and meeting aground of eccentric and loveable characters who welcome her into their circle. No further spoilers!
