Hi, I am a Preston, Lancashire born and bred award-winning crime thriller author of the Preston Murders series. I am also the co-founder and co-director of Preston Crime Fiction Festival, which is taking place from 25-27 September with 40+ major authors. Headliners are Dorothy Koomson and Alex North but got a lot of incredible, very high calibre authors. I have always loved reading and writing stories but I also have some very rare and debilitating autoimmune (inflammatory) diseases. I love to read as much as I can but I struggle to manage as much as I would like at the moment as my health took another turn (awaiting surgery) and the festival is taking all my "well enough" time. I love crime fiction but I do break them up every so often with a foray into other genres. I have a wide circle of friends within the crime writing community, which is why I have such a great lineup for this festival. I have been on stage at major crime writing festivals around the UK, including Theakston's Old Peculiar (they sold a record 18k tickets), I was on stage with M. W. Craven, Nadine Matheson, Simon Mason and Mark Billingham interviewed us. We were on in the main event tent and it was exceptionally busy! That was a moment and half! I am represented by a top agent in London and have two book deals at present. The advent of AI and celebrity "authors" terrifies me, because it is extremely tough to get a deal and they threaten all creatives... Having said that sometimes I wish I could be a recluse and read and write without all the public stuff, especially when I am flaring badly. These days there are a lot of selfie requests and if you don't like having your pic taken, it's tough luck... lol (I don't btw, in case that wasn't obvious. Some of my favourite go-to authors are Dorothy Koomson, Diant Chamberlain, Lisa Jewell, Adele Parks, Chris Carter, Lesley Kara and so many more... it is impossible to list them all :-) If you want to come to the festival or know others who might - the web address is www.prestoncrimefictionfestival.co.uk
