GJ Cox (Bury)

Looking for book recommendations and to recommend books. I love all fantasy books of all age groups and am not ashamed to admit I am an adult who loves kids books. Occasional reader of adventure, thriller and horror books also.

GJ Cox recommends:

Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton

This is a fantastic book that can get overlooked because the movie is so popular. But what most people do not realise is that the book is so much better and is definitely worth a read.
Milo and the Misfits by C.C. Cassidy

A great YA cozy fantasy. The characters are amazing and it champions a group of children with life challenges, turning them into strengths, rather than weaknesses

NewReader (Blackburn)

33F in Blackburn, Lancashire. I am wanting to join a group to meet new people, get out of the house and find great books. I like philosophy, psychoanalytic & biography books but I am interested in stretching my genres. I have been unable to find many book clubs in Blackburn or surrounding areas, if anyone has any recommendations, I would love that

It uncovers “false” ideologies about the human experience, and everyone could see themselves and everyone they know in this book.

Silvina (Wigan)

I taught literature for nearly fifteen years, and reading has always been a big part of my life. I read in both English and Spanish, and I enjoy all genres — poetry, plays, and novels, especially historical fiction. One of my favourite authors is Carlos Ruiz Zafón. I’ve read The Shadow of the Wind, the whole Cemetery of Forgotten Books series, and his earlier novels too. I also love Ryszard Kapuściński, particularly The Shadow of the Sun, and I’m drawn to his blend of literature, history and political reflection.

RB1995 (Rossendale)

I am a 30 year old woman. Looking to meet new friends. I have lived around Rossendale for almost 8 years but don’t have many friends outside of work that live in this area. I love reading. It’s my form of self care and love getting lost in a psychological thriller or a Romance novel. My favourite authors this year have been Frieda McFadden and Colleen Hoover. I have read 3 books by each of these authors in the last 6 months. As well as enjoying other novels too, I have also read a James Paterson book recently, who until I discovered McFadden and Hoover earlier this year, was my favourite and I could never resist picking up his books during my supermarket weekly shops.

RB1995 recommends:

The Housemaid by Freida McFadden

It keeps you thinking all the way through. You are questioning all of the characters and analysing everything trying to find an answer of what is going on. It even makes you question the protagonist of the book. I found it difficult to put this book down! I was so interested and intrigued.

James (Lancaster)

Fantasy reader based in Lancaster

James recommends:

The Heroes by Joe Abercrombie
The Heroes
by Joe Abercrombie | Buy this book
It's written in Joe Abercrombie's typical style - bloody and muddy. Not a fan of the term grim dark but these books do fall in that bracket and this standalone story is brilliant..
