Kip

Love novels but am often disappointed, but think I may sometimes not appreciate their deeper meaning. Keen to discuss and learn from others to pick up things I might have missed.

Kip recommends:

The English Patient by Michael Ondaatje
The English Patient

It describes in lyrical detail both the awfulness, but also the brilliance and liberation, of the sense of alienation

Bushey Book Club

Mixed group aged 50+ based in and around Bushey, Herts. This group would be for those who enjoy reading novels. As examples we have read: The Humans - Matt Haig, The Girl with the Louding Voice - Abi Dare, Anxious People - Fredrik Backman, The Seventh Son - Sebastian Faulks, Lessons in Chemistry - Bonnie Garnus, and Eleven - Mark Wawtson. We are not that keen on fantasy or sci-fi but the odd book in that genre would be OK. Once per month meeting in each others' home on a rota. Wednesday evenings with snacks and drinks provided by the host.
