Diane A (Amersham)

I'm looking to meet writers, and readers, anyone who enjoys prose, poetry, fiction and who is interested in getting together to discuss and tear the meat off the bones of a piece of writing, professional, unpublished, unknown or JK Rowling. I write and love to hear people's opinions on a script and I love to read others work. I dont know if there any clubs or meetings that take place but Id love to be a part of one again.

Dotun (Milton Keynes)

Hi, I’m Dotun, I’m really passionate about reading and exploring new ideas through books. Whether it’s fiction, non-fiction, or something in between, I enjoy diving into different worlds, perspectives, and stories. I’m looking to join a book group because I love the idea of sharing those reading experiences with others, discussing themes, characters, and the deeper meanings behind what we read. I also appreciate how book groups can introduce me to genres or authors I might not normally pick up. I’m excited about the idea of learning from others’ perspectives and bringing my own thoughts to the table. Plus, it’s always great to connect with fellow book lovers and have those lively discussions that make a good story even more impactful.

Dotun recommends:

The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin
The Left Hand of Darkness
by Ursula K. Le Guin | Buy this book
The novel delves into deep philosophical questions about human nature, otherness, and understanding. It explores themes of loyalty, betrayal, duality, and what it means to belong. It also highlights the challenges of intercultural communication and the alienation that can arise from differences, both physical and ideological.

It's a fantasy book about a young boy who's the seventh son of a seventh son. It leads us to a journey of his to become a Spook. A decent book I would recommend to fantasy lovers

judy (Milton Keynes)

I love reading books that introduce me to new ideas for how I can think differently or how the world could be different.

judy recommends:

Disoriental
by Negar Djavadi | Buy this book
This book is so generous in the way Negar talks to us and tells us about so many complexities of community, culture, history and politics in Iran, the terror that is created by borders, and the life long impact of migration. At the same time, as someone with a different life experience, there is so much to relate to. I loved that people and Kimia's relationship to the world move around and definitely exist beyond the binary. A gem of a book.

fizzymangojuice (High Wycombe)

I like literary fiction, and am getting into non-fiction at the moment. I'm interested in reading more non-fiction and translated literature, as well as trying out a more diverse range of themes. However, my main motive is to be able to discuss and be on the same page (no pun intended) as I don't know many people who read the same books I do. I'm a slow reader so I'll need more time to get through the allocated book.

fizzymangojuice recommends:

Reader245 (Aylesbury)

I’m 24 years old, not been living in Buckinghamshire for very long so I haven’t really made any friends. I’ve recently just started getting into reading books and thought why not join a book club to have someone to talk to about what I’ve read and to be able to socialise.
