Ted recommends:

The Hobbit
by JRR Tolkein | Buy this book
It's a true classic in every sense of the word that everyone should read a least once. Not a moment is wasted, and if anything, I wish it were (much) longer!

It's beautifully written, ambitious in scope and combines romance, the healing powers of the natural world and the kind of wildness that resides in us all.

Ellen (Gerrards Cross)

Looking to join a friendly book club. I’m in my mid-20’s and I particularly like reading fantasy but will read pretty much anything. I’ve been in a reading slump for a while now, so hoping that a book club with help get me back into reading and be a way to meet some new people.

Bobby K (High Wycombe)

I love to read though must confess to sticking with the same authors and genres. I'd really like to be challenged by fellow readers to try out recommendations from alternative authors and/or genres. Currently reading the "Gabriel Allon" series of books by Daniel Silva. Lee Child, Michael Connelly and David Baldacci have been other authors I have enjoyed with the occasional PG Wodehouse "Jeeves and Wooster" book thrown in for a laugh! It would be lovely to be part of a "face-to-face" group, perhaps meeting in a local coffee shop or other public venue.

Bobby K recommends:

Die with Zero
by Bill Perkins | Buy this book
It made me realise that making memories with those you love is the reason for living.

Elizabeth (Newport Pagnell)

I love a wide range of genres, but mainly read fiction. Always up for a recommendation.

Elizabeth recommends:

Jane Eyre
by Charlotte Bronte | Buy this book
I love how beyond its time the themes are. Jane is fiercely independent and has such a strong sense of self, even though her sex and position in the world, do not offer her any advantages. She believes in love and will not accept second best.

Elliethereader (Chesham)

I am a Kiwi in her late 20's who is new to the UK and is looking for a book club of those who love reading as much as I do. I love to read a wide a variety of fantasy, romantasy, dystopian, historical and magical realism books. (a bit of non-fiction when I'm in the right mood as well). My book taste are as follows: The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak Powerless by Lauren Roberts The Throne of Glass Series by Sarah.j.Maas On writing by Stephen King DIvine Rivals by Rebecca Ross

Elliethereader recommends:

Throne of Glass
by Sarah.J.Maas | Buy this book
Love the growth ands complexity of the plots of each characters. This is a tale of growth, loss and ultimately sacrifice that comes as each character grows.
The Book Thief
by Marcus Zusak | Buy this book
Death is the narrator is one of the many beautiful things in this book. It is set in WW2 Germany and taken from the fresh perspective of a 12 year old who is living in this society that has been warped by anti-semitism.
