The Wit (High Wycombe)

Hi there! I’m an introverted and neurodivergent reader who’s new to the area. I’ve been reading fiction for a few years now, with a particular love for epic and dark fantasy. Just looking to connect with like-minded people here, and maybe join a book club where we can socialise and dive into deep discussions about our favourite books.

The Wit recommends:

Malazan: Book of the fallen by Steven Erikson

It’s like looking through a window into a whole new universe. The world building is amazing with no typical heroes and villains, instead it is full of complex and grey characters. The politics, warfare and philosophy, it has got all of it and the depth of writing style is just fantastic.

"I am looking for a book club where I can meet people and discuss all kinds of books. I enjoy literature, politics, history, social, fiction, and science fiction—especially thought-provoking reads that broaden horizons. I am open to recommendations and love discovering new perspectives through books. My goal is to engage in meaningful discussions and connect with others who share a passion for reading."

Tom (High Wycombe)

Looking to make friends with fellow book-lovers and start a book club in High Wycombe, Amersham or elsewhere in the area – perhaps socialising around whatever we're reading rather than picking a certain book each month. I like to read all sorts of fiction and non-fiction, including classic sci-fi, contemporary novels, politics and music history, and usually have at least two books on the go! I'm 30 and write for a living :)

I mostly read contemporary literary fiction, horror and fantasy. I also love looking for fiction translated into English, feminist nonfiction and non fiction about nature and textiles/fashion history. I'd love to make some connections with bookish people who enjoy similar books!

Reading between the Wines (High Wycombe)

Our Book Club, ‘Reading between the Wines’, is looking to grow. We are a new group, and we plan to meet monthly in coffee shops, pubs or each other's home. Our members are located in High Wycombe and Tyler’s Green/Penn. We like to keep an open mind about what we read, though we all gravitate towards fiction, thrillers in particular. Our last read was ‘Butter’ by Asako Yuzuki, and our next read is ‘The Bee Sting’ by Paul Murray. We are looking forward to reading more of the books we love as well as books out of our comfort zone as we expand our group. Please get in touch...
