Finding Sanctuary: Monastic Steps for Everyday Life

I bought this book after stumbling upon a clip of a TV documentary that was shown a few years ago. The author was in charge of the Catholic monastery that had allowed a small group of people to experience life there and he seemed so calm, reassuring and wise. I wasn't at all sure what to expect with this book but it was such a gentle and also practical little read. Not at all what people might expect! I ended up buying his other books, which were also great. You absolutely don't need to be religious in the conventional sense to benefit from it. It's more about finding sanctuary in this tricky modern world. I'm not at all a fan of 'self help' books, and I wouldn't class this as one of those.

I’ve always been a fan of epic fantasy novels—right now, I’m finishing The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson, which has been an incredible adventure. That said, I’m keen to diversify the genres I read and would love to hear everyone’s recommendations and opinions on different books.
