Looking for great conversations, new perspectives and an excuse to read something you might never have picked up? Friday Night Pages is Wayward Events' friendly, inclusive book club in Crewe, welcoming men, women and non-binary people for an evening of books, conversation and plenty of laughs at The Rising Sun in Wistaston. You don't need to be a bookworm, a fast reader or an expert. Whether you loved the book, hated it or didn't quite finish it, you're welcome to join the discussion. Some of our best conversations come from completely different opinions! Each month, one of our members chooses three books, and everyone votes for the one we'll read next. Having read 1984 some time ago and wanting to delve more into classics, I gave this book a try. It provides a humbling lens on the life of someone whose journey takes them across different areas, where their perspective is shifted by poverty, and the friendships they make along the way. There's no grandiosity or built up happy endings, just a rich narrative. Not my usual book, but very much enjoyed it!
