BeBeHC

I am retired, happily so and my passion is reading. I moved to HC 3 years ago to be with my now hubby, we got married a month ago. Romance is not dead in the oldies ! I have friends all over the UK but would like to meet like minded locals to swap ideas but also maybe become friends. I am not usually a club-joining kind of person, but this appealed to me. I look forward to meeting other friendly book loving locals. Cheers, Marie

Let's just say I am a mature but young minded lady. I love reading a gripping story - a thriller or a detective story or a family saga over several generations. I don't have a preferred author, as such, I do like to discover new authors too, but whatever genre, the contents must grip me from page 1.

Hi There! My name is Jess and I'm in my mid twenties. I'm looking for a like-minded book loving friend/s to grab a drink every so often and swap recommendations and loves for fiction and non fiction alike. I studied the classics at uni and love a good mix of genres including, fantasy, romance, thriller and much more! ☺️

Joshua

I'm an eccentric reader and writer, and I'm looking to gain a foothold in the area once I move in shortly. I'm interested in all kinds of books, but especially science fiction, fantasy, and mythology, with a particular preference towards stories about LGBT+ and disabled experiences. My autistic special interest is the books of the late Sir Terry Pratchett, so I especially enjoy talking about those.

Joshua recommends:

Small Gods by Terry Pratchett
Small Gods
by Terry Pratchett | Buy this book
A hilarious and deeply poignant exploration of what it means to have faith (or not) and of the systems we build around them. The basic premise is that the Great God Om accidentally turns into a tortoise and can't change back so he and novice priest Brutha go on a grand journey to figure out what happened, and chaos ensues.
